The Samaritans are an ancient ethno-religious group who have endured centuries of difficulties to remain in existence. Settled on the slopes of Mount Gerizim near Nablus in the West Bank, today they number less than 1,000 members. Despite constant danger of disappearing, these devout and faithful people still strive to keep their culture alive.
This documentary follows Abdallah Cohen as he embarks upon a most important milestone: marriage. As he and his bride join hands for a lifetime together, we get a unique insight into the challenges the Samaritans face day-to-day and the strength of their spirit.
The film provides an unfiltered view into this small community’s beliefs and values, illustrating their struggles to preserve their ancient traditions from outside forces that threaten to extinguish them forever. We experience Abdallah’s wedding preparations which range from intricate food rituals to traditional embroidery carried out by expert artisans in preparation for the big day.
