What was Ozzy Osbourne’s final show?
Back to the Beginning was an approximately 10-hour, all-day heavy-metal benefit concert staged at Villa Park, the home of Aston Villa Football Club. It brought together major metal and rock acts before Osbourne took the stage for a short solo set and then joined Black Sabbath for the closing performance.
The concert had been announced on February 5, 2025, as “Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Performance.” At the time, it was planned as a farewell appearance. Osbourne’s death at age 76 on July 22, 2025—17 days after the concert—confirmed that the July 5 performance was his final live appearance.

Ozzy Osbourne’s five-song solo set
Osbourne’s solo performance was deliberately compact rather than a standard full-length concert. He performed seated on a black, bat-themed throne, reflecting the mobility limitations associated with his publicly discussed health problems and his retirement from touring.
- I Don’t Know
- Mr. Crowley
- Suicide Solution
- Mama, I’m Coming Home
- Crazy Train
The selection compressed several defining parts of Osbourne’s solo career into five songs. “I Don’t Know,” “Mr. Crowley,” and “Suicide Solution” represented the early Blizzard of Ozz era. “Mama, I’m Coming Home” supplied the major ballad from his 1991 period, while “Crazy Train” provided the signature anthem most closely associated with his solo identity.
The final Black Sabbath performance
After the solo set, Osbourne was joined by the original Black Sabbath lineup: guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward. The reunion was especially significant because the four members had not performed together onstage for 20 years.
- War Pigs
- N.I.B.
- Iron Man
- Paranoid
“Paranoid” was the final song of the Black Sabbath set and, in practical terms, the last song Ozzy Osbourne ever performed live. The four-song selection focused on the early Black Sabbath material that established the band’s sound and helped define heavy metal.

This was not a conventional Black Sabbath tour date. It was a single reunion within a larger farewell event, and there was no subsequent tour by the original quartet.
Why Birmingham was the right setting
Birmingham was central to the story rather than simply the location chosen for a large stadium concert. Osbourne was born in Birmingham, and Black Sabbath formed in the city in the late 1960s. The title Back to the Beginning therefore referred both to the start of Osbourne’s life and to the origins of the band that made him a worldwide figure.

Osbourne presented the event as a way to give something back to the place where he was born. That hometown framing also distinguished it from earlier farewell branding, including the No More Tours era. Back to the Beginning was a one-off celebration and benefit, not another multi-city attempt to keep Osbourne on the road.
Who performed at Back to the Beginning?
The Villa Park event was much larger than the final Ozzy and Black Sabbath sets. The announced and reported bill included:
- Metallica
- Guns N’ Roses
- Tool
- Pantera
- Slayer
- Alice in Chains
- Gojira
- Halestorm
- Lamb of God
- Anthrax
- Mastodon
- Rival Sons
- Yungblud
- Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne
The event also featured collaborative or tribute appearances involving Papa V of Ghost, Ronnie Wood, Steven Tyler, Billy Corgan, Jack Black, Sammy Hagar, Nuno Bettencourt, Chad Smith, Danny Carey, Travis Barker, and Tom Morello. Because the day used short sets and changing collaborations, it is more accurate to describe this as an all-star bill with guest appearances than to treat every named performer as having played a separate, full-length set.
Tom Morello served as musical director, while Jason Momoa hosted. Many of the performers played their own material and joined other musicians for Ozzy- or Sabbath-related songs during the event.
How Osbourne’s health shaped the performance
Osbourne had publicly retired from touring after serious health problems, including Parkinson’s disease and mobility limitations. The Villa Park appearance was structured around a short performance rather than the physical demands of a normal concert tour. His seated staging allowed him to appear before the hometown crowd without presenting the event as a return to regular touring.
The most defensible description is that Osbourne performed from a throne because of health-related mobility limitations. There is no basis in the available research for stronger claims about exactly how every vocal part was produced, whether every note in the broadcast mix was live, or whether undisclosed vocal or visual technology was used. The performance should be discussed from the documented staging and setlist, not from speculation about the production feed.

Why was the concert a benefit?
The official announcement said that all profits from Back to the Beginning would be shared equally among three beneficiaries:
- Cure Parkinson’s
- Birmingham Children’s Hospital
- Acorns Children’s Hospice
The charitable purpose was closely connected to both the event’s Birmingham identity and Osbourne’s experience with Parkinson’s disease. However, no final audited proceeds figure should be treated as established here. Early reports circulated widely different totals, and later comments from Jack Osbourne disputed or corrected inflated estimates. The reliable claim is that the concert was organized as a benefit for the three named organizations and that the announcement specified an equal division of profits.
Was Ozzy’s final show livestreamed?
Yes. The official Ozzy Osbourne site promoted a worldwide pay-per-view livestream for July 5, 2025. That stream was intended as a global broadcast of the farewell event.
The original livestream is now a historical broadcast rather than an automatically available current stream. The available information does not verify an active official replay page, permanent subscription archive, or free stream. Viewers should be cautious about unofficial uploads, which may be incomplete, removed, or unauthorized.
What is the concert film?
The concert film is titled Back to the Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow. Mercury Studios announced it in July 2025 as an approximately 100-minute theatrical film edited from the much longer Villa Park event. The project was described as including behind-the-scenes material and interviews as well as performance footage.
The announced film focus included performances of “War Pigs,” “Iron Man,” “Children of the Grave,” and “Paranoid.” That list should not be confused with Osbourne’s four-song Black Sabbath set: “Children of the Grave” was identified as part of the film’s selected event footage, while the documented closing Sabbath set consisted of “War Pigs,” “N.I.B.,” “Iron Man,” and “Paranoid.”

The film was announced for theatrical release in 2026, with a physical release reported for later in 2026. The available announcement does not establish a precise U.S. theatrical date, confirmed theater chain, digital rental or purchase date, or final DVD/Blu-ray listing. Availability may have changed since the announcement, so those details should be checked against the current distributor and retailer information before publication or purchase.
The 2025 pay-per-view stream was a past event, and a current official replay has not been verified. For a permanent copy, the relevant item to watch for is the announced physical release; a retailer search for Back to the Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow DVD is more useful than assuming the old livestream remains available. Check the format, region, release date, and seller before ordering because the exact home-video edition was not confirmed in the available announcement.
