The original Twin Peaks television series was reported as available to stream free on Pluto TV with advertisements. The catch is that this does not mean the entire Twin Peaks story is free—or even available in one place. Pluto’s reported offer covered the 1990–1991 series: Seasons 1 and 2, totaling 30 episodes. It did not include Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, Twin Peaks: The Return, or The Missing Pieces.
Because streaming catalogs change, treat Pluto’s availability as something to verify in the live U.S. catalog rather than a permanent promise.

What “free” actually includes
Pluto TV is a free, ad-supported streaming service offering both live channels and on-demand programming. Unlike a conventional subscription service, it does not require a monthly payment for its free catalog, but viewers do watch commercial breaks.
A January 20, 2025 report said Pluto had added the original Twin Peaks series to its on-demand selection. That means the free offer was for:

It does not mean that Pluto supplied every film and television installment connected to David Lynch and Mark Frost’s story. Search Pluto’s current U.S. catalog before planning a binge, since the reported offer is historical evidence and streaming rights can change without notice.
The catch: “Twin Peaks” is bigger than the original series
The phrase Twin Peaks can refer narrowly to the original two-season television program or broadly to the entire story world. Those are very different viewing commitments.
| Installment | What it is | Included in the reported Pluto offer? |
|---|---|---|
| Twin Peaks, Season 1 | The original 1990 television season | Yes |
| Twin Peaks, Season 2 | The original 1990–1991 television season | Yes |
| Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me | A 1992 prequel film about Laura Palmer’s final days | No |
| Twin Peaks: The Return | The 2017 Showtime revival and continuation | No |
| Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces | Deleted and extended scenes from Fire Walk with Me | No |
That omission is substantial. Watching the free Pluto episodes gives you the original mystery and its two-season arc, but it does not take you through the later continuation of the story.
Where the missing installments fit
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me
Fire Walk with Me is not a recap of the television show. It is a feature-film prequel centered on Laura Palmer’s final days. Its tone is darker and more emotionally intense than much of the original series, and it adds context that becomes important to the later revival.

In the U.S. availability snapshot used for this article, JustWatch listed the film on HBO Max/Max, the Criterion Channel, and related premium-channel arrangements, as well as digital rental and purchase stores. It reported no free streaming option for the film at that time. Confirm the current listing before subscribing or renting.
If you only need the missing film rather than the whole franchise, compare the current streaming options with a physical release such as a Blu-ray or 4K edition of Fire Walk with Me. Formats and included supplements vary by edition.
Twin Peaks: The Return
The Return is the 2017 revival, not a third season included automatically with the original program. Paramount+ lists the original series and The Return as separate titles.
A June 2026 viewing guide reported all three television seasons on Paramount+, with Seasons 1 and 2 available on its Essential tier and The Return limited to Premium in that guide’s account. Exact tiers, pricing, advertisements, and channel availability can change, so check the current Paramount+ plan details before signing up.
For viewers who want the television story in one paid streaming ecosystem, Paramount+ is the first service to check. It is not the same thing as a free Pluto viewing option, and the required tier should be verified at the time of purchase.

The Missing Pieces
The Missing Pieces collects deleted and extended material from Fire Walk with Me. It is best treated as supplementary material rather than a required replacement for the film. Historically, it has been associated with Criterion’s physical and streaming releases, but it was not part of the reported Pluto lineup.
Where can you watch the complete story?
There is no single permanently guaranteed free service for the complete Twin Peaks saga. In the U.S. snapshot available for this article:
- Original Seasons 1 and 2: reported free with ads on Pluto TV; verify the current catalog.
- The Return: listed through Paramount+ and related premium channel arrangements, with the exact access tier subject to change.
- Fire Walk with Me: listed on Max/HBO Max, Criterion Channel, related premium channels, and digital rental or purchase stores; no free option was reported in the cited snapshot.
- The Missing Pieces: availability is more specialized and may depend on Criterion’s current streaming catalog or a physical release.
JustWatch’s late-July 2026 U.S. listing for The Return showed Paramount Plus Premium, Paramount+ Apple TV Channel, Paramount+ Amazon Channel, MUBI, and Paramount+ Roku Premium Channel, along with digital purchase options. These listings are useful for comparison, but they are not a substitute for checking the service’s own sign-up and title pages.

If your goal is to watch all three television seasons without buying discs, check Paramount+ first. The original series and The Return are presented as separate titles, and the plan needed for The Return may differ from the plan that carries Seasons 1 and 2.

- Open the current Paramount+ plan and title listings for your country.
- Confirm that both the original Twin Peaks and The Return are included.
- Check whether the advertised plan includes The Return, rather than assuming every tier has identical access.
- Find Fire Walk with Me separately before beginning, because the film may require another service, a rental, or a purchase.
This route may be convenient for the television portion, but it is not automatically a complete-franchise subscription.
Recommended first-time viewing order
For a first viewing, use release-and-story order rather than beginning with the prequel:
- Twin Peaks, Season 1
- Twin Peaks, Season 2
- Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me
- Twin Peaks: The Return
- Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces, optionally as supplemental viewing after the film
Although Fire Walk with Me takes place before the television series chronologically, watching it first would remove much of the intended mystery and context. The more useful first-time path is to complete the original two seasons, then watch the prequel before moving into The Return.
The Missing Pieces can be watched after Fire Walk with Me if you want additional material about the film. It is not essential homework before the revival, but completionists will likely want to include it.

The most reliable completionist option: physical media
Physical media can make sense for Twin Peaks because streaming rights are divided among services and can move without notice. Search for Twin Peaks: From Z to A: The Complete Series on Blu-ray if you want a package designed to bring together the three television seasons, Fire Walk with Me, The Missing Pieces, and supplemental material.
Before buying, verify the exact edition, region, included discs, seller, and format. Twin Peaks: The Television Collection is another searchable Blu-ray/DVD product, but it is not automatically the same package as From Z to A and should not be assumed to contain every film component.
If you want ownership instead of another subscription, compare the current listing for the Twin Peaks complete-series Blu-ray. Do not assume that every box set includes the same extras or the same version of every installment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is all of Twin Peaks free on Pluto TV?
No. The reported Pluto TV offer covered the original two-season, 30-episode television series and included advertisements. It did not include Fire Walk with Me, The Return, or The Missing Pieces. Pluto’s current catalog should be checked because streaming availability changes.
Does Pluto TV include Twin Peaks: The Return?
The January 2025 availability report said it did not. The Return was listed separately through Paramount+ and related premium channels in the later U.S. availability snapshot.
What should I watch after the original Twin Peaks series?
Watch Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me after Seasons 1 and 2, then watch Twin Peaks: The Return. You can watch The Missing Pieces after the film as optional supplemental material.
Where can I watch Fire Walk with Me?
The U.S. snapshot used here listed it on Max/HBO Max, Criterion Channel, and related premium channels, plus digital rental and purchase options. Confirm the current listing for your location; no free streaming option was reported in that snapshot.
Which physical box set contains the complete Twin Peaks saga?
Twin Peaks: From Z to A: The Complete Series is identified as a Blu-ray package containing the three television seasons, Fire Walk with Me, The Missing Pieces, and supplemental material. Verify the exact edition and contents before buying, since other collections use similar names but may differ.
The Bottom Line
Pluto TV’s reported free offer is real in the narrow sense: it gives viewers a way to watch the original two seasons with ads. The catch is completeness. To follow the larger story, you will need to locate Fire Walk with Me and The Return separately—or consider a physical collection such as From Z to A after checking its exact contents. Verify every listing at the time you watch, especially if you are outside the U.S.
