The View was not canceled or permanently removed from ABC’s schedule. During the week of Monday, June 30, through Friday, July 4, 2025, ABC aired encore broadcasts instead of new episodes as part of a scheduled Independence Day holiday-week break. New episodes returned on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Why wasn’t The View on this week?
ABC’s schedule for June 30 through July 4, 2025, listed The View as “Encore Broadcasts”. In television scheduling, that means previously aired episodes were shown in the program’s usual weekday slot rather than a new installment being produced and broadcast.

The break covered the Independence Day holiday week. It was a short scheduled pause—not a cancellation, permanent hiatus, or indication that the show had ended. ABC’s official press-release archive separately announced a new guest lineup for the following week, confirming that fresh episodes were scheduled to resume.
When did new episodes return?
New episodes of The View resumed on Monday, July 7, 2025. ABC’s schedule for July 7–11 included guests such as Gloria Steinem, Jean Smart, David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan and Phaedra Parks.
That July 7 broadcast was the return from the holiday-week break. It was not the premiere of Season 29. The show continued with new episodes during July before taking its longer annual summer break later in the month.
| Date or period | What viewers saw |
|---|---|
| June 30–July 4, 2025 | Encore broadcasts, including the Independence Day holiday week |
| Monday, July 7, 2025 | New episodes returned |
| Later in July through early September | Separate annual summer hiatus; ABC aired older episodes in the regular time slot |
| Monday, September 8, 2025 | Season 29 returned with new episodes at 11 a.m. Eastern |
Did The View go off the air for all of July?
No. That is an easy mistake to make because the show had two different schedule interruptions in 2025.

The first was the brief holiday-week break from June 30 through July 4. New programming came back on July 7 and continued later that month. The second was the show’s regular summer hiatus, which began after the late-July episodes and lasted into September.
ABC confirmed the later return as the start of Season 29 on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. Eastern. Older episodes aired during that interim period. The September date therefore answers a different question: when the new season returned after summer—not when the show came back from the July 4 holiday break.

Where could viewers watch?
The View normally airs on weekdays at 11 a.m. Eastern, 10 a.m. Central and 8 a.m. Pacific, although local ABC affiliate schedules can vary. ABC’s official show page provides episode information and directs viewers to full episodes through ABC and Hulu, so viewers looking for the July broadcasts could use the network’s listing or watch full episodes of The View through the available official services.
However, streaming access did not cause the July 4-week interruption. The reason for the missing new episodes was simply ABC’s holiday-week encore schedule.

The short answer
The View was absent as a new episode during the week of July 4, 2025, because ABC scheduled reruns—called encore broadcasts—for the holiday week. The show returned with new episodes on Monday, July 7. Its later September 8 return was the separate end of the annual summer hiatus and the beginning of Season 29.
