- Read the checkout screen carefully. Confirm the exact trial end date, the post-trial price, and whether the offer is genuinely $0 rather than a discounted first month.
- Open the membership or add-on section. Look specifically for HBO Max or Max and verify that the add-on itself is labeled as a free trial. If it shows a monthly price, it is not free even if the base YouTube TV plan is still in its trial period.
- Confirm the show is included in the selected Max tier. Search for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms in the add-on’s catalog before beginning playback.
- Set a cancellation reminder immediately. Use the earlier of the displayed trial deadlines as your practical cutoff, and allow time for the cancellation to process.
You can begin with the YouTube TV free-trial offer, but the live signup screen is the final authority. Trial duration, add-on availability, pricing, and eligibility can vary by account and promotion.
What “free” really means here
This is a promotional trial, not a free tier. YouTube TV requires a payment method, and the service can begin billing according to the terms shown during enrollment. The HBO Max add-on may have a separate price and renewal date from the base YouTube TV plan.

Max’s own help information says that most Max subscription providers do not offer a free trial to new subscribers. When a trial or promotion is available, the offer should be identified during signup. A payment method is required, and the subscription normally renews automatically after the trial.

Possibly, but it cannot be guaranteed. A six-episode season may not fit neatly inside an individual trial window, especially if episodes are released weekly or if your HBO Max add-on has a shorter trial than the main YouTube TV plan. The trial may also be unavailable to your account, or the add-on may require payment from the start.

Where to watch it if the trial does not appear
In the United States, a JustWatch listing checked August 11, 2026, identified the series on HBO Max and the HBO Max Amazon Channel. It also listed paid digital purchase options through Amazon Video, the Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home, along with DVD and Blu-ray availability. The same listing reported no free streaming option at the time of its check.
For viewers who want ongoing access, a Max subscription is the direct streaming alternative, subject to the plan and availability shown in your location. Do not confuse direct Max availability with a universal Max free trial: Max’s stated policy is that most providers do not offer one.
If you would rather own the season instead of managing a trial, check the current digital, DVD, or Blu-ray listing before purchasing. Prices, formats, stock, and retailer availability can change, so the retailer’s live page should take precedence over an older availability guide.
Outside the United States

These are territory-specific snapshots, not permanent global guarantees. Streaming rights can change, so viewers outside the U.S. should search their local service catalog and check the current provider terms.
A VPN is not required for the legitimate U.S. trial route, and using one does not make an ineligible YouTube TV promotion available. Do not use a VPN to circumvent regional restrictions or a provider’s terms. If you are traveling, access to an existing subscription depends on the service’s rules and local law; it is different from creating a new subscription to evade location or eligibility requirements.
A practical cancellation checklist
- Record the trial end date shown at checkout.
- Save the post-trial price for the base plan and the HBO Max/Max add-on separately.
- Set a calendar alert at least two days before renewal.
- Cancel through the provider that billed the subscription—YouTube TV if it is the add-on bundle, or another provider if you enrolled elsewhere.
- Look for an on-screen and email cancellation confirmation.
- Check your bank or card statement for an unexpected renewal charge.
If the HBO Max trial is not displayed during signup, stop there. Adding the channel and hoping it will be free later can result in an ordinary paid subscription.

Is Max itself free?
Not generally. Max says most subscription providers do not offer a free trial to new subscribers. A promotional trial may appear for some plans or providers, but it must be shown during signup and normally requires a payment method and automatic-renewal terms.

Is HBO Max included in the YouTube TV free trial?
Not automatically. YouTube TV’s base introductory trial and its premium add-ons are separate. HBO Max may offer a trial when available, but you must verify that the add-on itself is marked as $0 during your signup.
