Where can you watch The Night Manager Season 2?
United States
In the US, Season 2 premiered on Prime Video. Viewers searching an old AMC page may not find the continuation there: AMC was associated with the original American run, but Prime Video is the relevant US home for Season 2. Open the official Prime Video listing and select Season 2 rather than relying on the default season displayed on the title page.
United Kingdom
The UK broadcast and streaming homes were BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The BBC iPlayer catalog and catch-up windows can change, so availability should be checked directly before watching.
Other territories
Amazon handled the international Prime Video release outside the UK, but the exact catalog can vary by country. The fact that Prime Video was the original international distributor does not guarantee that every episode will remain permanently available in every territory. If Season 2 does not appear, first confirm the country setting, search for the Tom Hiddleston series rather than another title with a similar name, and check the official local listing. Regional restrictions should not be treated as a problem to solve through unofficial viewing methods.
Is there an official Season 2 trailer?
Yes. Prime Video released its official full trailer on December 11, 2025, using the tagline “The past is a deadly weapon.” You can watch the official Prime Video trailer on YouTube. The BBC also released a separate UK campaign trailer, available through the official BBC trailer link.
The trailers are relatively spoiler-light. They establish that Pine is living under the identity Alex Goodwin, working in a quiet MI6 surveillance role in London, before a figure connected to Roper’s old network brings his past back into focus. They introduce Colombian businessman and arms dealer Teddy Dos Santos, businesswoman Roxana Bolaños, Pine’s infiltration of a Colombian operation, and a conspiracy involving weapons and the training of a guerrilla force.

They do not explain the full extent of the returning characters’ involvement, and they should not be treated as a complete guide to the Season 2 or Season 3 story. In particular, viewers who want to avoid casting and finale spoilers should watch the trailers before reading the spoiler section below.

What is The Night Manager Season 2 about?
Season 2 begins roughly eight to nine years after Jonathan Pine’s original operation. The discrepancy comes from the official materials: Amazon’s season overview describes an eight-year gap, while the Prime Video synopsis for Episode 1 says that nine years have passed since the Egypt operation. The safest description is therefore “roughly eight to nine years later,” rather than treating either number as an exact universal timeline.
Pine is no longer living openly as the hotel night manager viewers knew in Season 1. He is now operating as Alex Goodwin, a low-level MI6 officer running a quiet surveillance unit in London. After spotting a former mercenary linked to Richard Roper’s network, Pine is pulled into an investigation involving Teddy Dos Santos, a powerful Colombian businessman and arms dealer.
To enter Teddy’s operation, Pine adopts another identity: Matthew Ellis. His investigation centers on a shipment that points beyond ordinary criminal trafficking, toward a larger conspiracy involving weapons, British intelligence interests and the creation or training of a guerrilla army. Roxana Bolaños, a businesswoman connected to Teddy’s world, occupies an uncertain position as Pine attempts to determine who can be trusted.

The setup changes the shape of the series. Season 1 was built around Pine’s dangerous infiltration of Roper’s luxury international network. Season 2 starts with surveillance work in London before moving into a Colombian arms operation, combining private criminality, state corruption and intelligence manipulation. Pine’s relationship with Teddy becomes more complicated than a straightforward hero-versus-villain contest, while Roper’s return reconnects the new story with the original Pine–Roper conflict.

Season 2 assumes that viewers know Pine, Roper, Burr and the consequences of the original operation. It is therefore strongly recommended that new viewers watch Season 1 first. The second season can function as a political-espionage thriller on its own, but its emotional stakes, aliases and recurring relationships are much clearer with that background.
It is also important not to look for a second le Carré novel covering this plot. Season 2 is not a direct adaptation of another John le Carré book. It is an original television continuation that extends the characters beyond the 1993 source novel. In April 2024, the BBC and Amazon ordered two additional seasons, turning the project into a planned two-season continuation rather than a one-off revival, as reported by TheWrap.
Production changes: who made Season 2?
David Farr, who created and wrote the television series, remained the key creative figure for the continuation. Season 2 was directed by Georgi Banks-Davies. Susanne Bier, who directed Season 1, did not direct the new episodes, although she remained involved in the broader production.
The BBC returned as a production partner, while Amazon became the new co-production partner for the continuation. That arrangement also helps explain the change in US distribution: AMC was important to the original American run, but Prime Video became the relevant US platform for Season 2.
The change in director and the move into a new Colombia-centered operation contribute to a different visual and tonal emphasis. Season 1’s luxury locations and tightly controlled infiltration gave way to a quieter London opening and a broader political conspiracy. What happens in the Season 2 finale?
Spoilers for all six episodes follow.
The finale ends with Richard Roper outmaneuvering both Pine and Teddy. After discovering the betrayal surrounding the arms operation, Roper manipulates the shipment and kills Teddy—his own son. Pine survives the immediate confrontation, but he is left wounded and alone in the Colombian jungle.
Back in Britain, Angela Burr confronts Mayra Cavendish’s connection to the corrupt operation. Burr is then shot and killed. Roper returns to England and reunites with his other son, Danny, leaving the season with the original antagonist alive and once again positioned around his family.
The ending is intentionally not as self-contained as Season 1’s conclusion. It leaves several major questions for the planned continuation:

Will there be a Season 3?
Yes—but there is no confirmed release date. Season 3 was ordered at the same time as Season 2 and is in development. David Farr remains involved in developing and writing the story, while Tom Hiddleston has described the second and third seasons as a two-volume continuation with a planned endpoint.
Farr has indicated that Season 3 will deal with justice, redemption and the consequences of the Season 2 finale. That makes Pine’s fate, Roper’s position and the fallout from Angela’s death likely central concerns, but there is not yet an official full synopsis, trailer, production-start date or complete cast announcement.
Tom Hiddleston as Pine and Hugh Laurie as Roper are strong expectations based on the story that Season 2 leaves unresolved, but they should not be presented as a complete officially announced Season 3 cast. Noah Jupe, Indira Varma and Hayley Squires are also reasonable possibilities, and Camila Morrone could return as Roxana, but those expectations are not equivalent to a confirmed cast list. Olivia Colman, Diego Calva and Paul Chahidi should not be listed as Season 3 returns without acknowledging what happens to their characters in the Season 2 finale.

The critical response is more qualified than a simple “better” or “worse.” As of August 10, 2026, the Rotten Tomatoes listing showed an 86% Tomatometer score and a 61% audience score; those figures can change as more reviews and ratings are added.
Favorable reactions have highlighted Hiddleston’s performance, the increasingly complicated Pine–Teddy relationship, the later episodes’ escalation, Roper’s return and the show’s international espionage atmosphere. Other critics have found the opening episodes slow, the conspiracy more conventional, and the season less visually distinctive without Susanne Bier directing. Time described it as a slow burn that becomes more compelling as it escalates, while The Daily Beast was more critical of the reduced visual sweep and the absence of a direct le Carré blueprint.
The fairest summary is that Season 2 eventually becomes more gripping, but it is less immediately stylish and less self-contained than Season 1. Viewers who want a closed six-episode story should know that the new season is deliberately a middle chapter leading into Season 3.

Yes, strongly. Season 2 offers a new operation, new locations and new adversaries, but it relies on the history between Pine, Roper and Burr. Season 1 also explains why Pine is valuable to British intelligence, why Roper remains such a dangerous figure, and why Pine’s new identities carry emotional as well as operational consequences.

It is possible to follow the basic Colombian arms plot without seeing the first season, but watching Season 1 first will make the returning cast, time jump and Season 2 cliffhanger substantially more meaningful.
Why can’t I find Season 2?
- Check the title. This is the British-American thriller starring Tom Hiddleston, not Netflix’s The Night Agent or the 2023 Indian adaptation starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor.
- Confirm your territory. The UK release was on BBC One and BBC iPlayer; the US and most international release was on Prime Video.
- Use the season selector. On the US Prime Video title page, the default view may show Season 1. Open the official listing and select Season 2.
- Check the local catalog. Prime Video rights and BBC iPlayer catch-up windows can change, even after the original rollout has finished.
- Do not rely on old AMC coverage. AMC was connected to Season 1’s US run, but Prime Video is the relevant US home for the continuation.
The six-episode Season 2 rollout is complete, but the platform on which it is currently available can vary by country. The official Prime Video page and BBC iPlayer are the appropriate places to verify current access.
