CBS lists 20 episodes for the season. The final two episodes are titled A Change in the Wind and I’d Do It Again. Claims that Season 3 has 19 episodes, or that it is still waiting for a release date, are outdated.
What is Season 3 about?
The season opens at Gabriela Perez’s wedding to Diego. Before the ceremony can provide any clean break from her complicated history with Bode, a helicopter crashes and creates an emergency for Station 42 and the Three Rock fire camp. The disaster puts the firefighting team straight back into action while leaving Gabriela and Bode’s relationship unresolved.

From there, Season 3 follows several connected storylines:
- Bode’s professional future: Bode is given an opportunity that could move him beyond his identity as a prison-release-program inmate. He must demonstrate that he can operate as a professional firefighter and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Audrey’s place in the team: Audrey James, a former Three Rock inmate played by Leven Rambin, becomes significant to Bode’s career storyline.
- Bode and Gabriela: Gabriela tries to move forward after her wedding, but the emotional connection between her and Bode remains one of the season’s central tensions.
- Manny’s family crisis: Manny risks his freedom while trying to help his daughter, creating another conflict between family loyalty and the law.
- Eve and Three Rock: Eve takes on more responsibility at the fire camp and deals with difficult family issues, including the return of her estranged father, Elroy Edwards.
- The Leone family: Vince and Sharon confront the worsening cognitive problems affecting Walter Leone, forcing the family to make painful decisions about his care.
- Mickey Fox’s investigation: Sheriff Mickey Fox returns to Edgewater. In Episode 16, Dirty Money, she and Bode investigate an attempted murder involving her estranged father, Wes Fox.

The season ends as a cliffhanger rather than a neat resolution. The finale does not clearly settle every character’s fate or fully explain Gabriela’s eventual departure. Subsequent reporting confirmed that Billy Burke and Stephanie Arcila left the regular cast after Season 3, but viewers should not assume that every detail of those exits is explained within the finale itself. Some consequences are dealt with in Season 4.
