Are you interested in learning more about one of the darkest chapters of World War II history? Unit 731 stands out as a particularly infamous group that conducted heinous experiments on prisoners of war. Thankfully, there are some excellent documentaries that tell stories from this time period. Here is a list of the best documentaries about Unit 731 and what they offer viewers. First on the list is the award-winning documentary “Unit 731: Testimony”, directed by Japanese director Junji Saruwatari. The film follows a group of former prisoners of Unit 731 who tell their stories about what happened to them during captivity. It’s an emotional and powerful look into the horrors that everyone involved suffered.

Unit 731, a secretive organization within the Japanese Imperial Army, conducted horrific experiments on innocent civilians during the Sino-Japanese War. Their twisted and sadistic tests included using people as guinea pigs for bacteriological weapons testing, with no regard for their health or safety. Hundreds of victims suffered immensely at the hands of these so-called “elite doctors,” with many perishing due to the effects of the experiments.
