Volcanologists are some of the bravest people in the world. For centuries, they have been studying and protecting people from the destructive force of molten rock and ash that can spew out of active volcanoes.
Despite their courage and dedication, they are often overlooked and their work goes largely unrecognized. A new documentary seeks to change this by profiling a group of passionate volcanologists who are dedicated to understanding these geological phenomena in order to protect those living nearby.
The documentary provides viewers with an up-close and personal look at the dangers these scientists face on a daily basis as they bravely venture into the paths of active volcanoes while measuring heat, seismic activity, gasses, and other data that can be used to predict when an eruption might occur. Through interviews with local survivors and communities affected by volcanic eruptions, viewers get a glimpse into what it takes for these brave individuals to save lives while also learning about the history of volcanology itself.
In addition to being an informative watch, this documentary is also visually stunning – featuring shots taken from helicopters flying over active craters as well as vivid close-ups of bubbling lava flows and ash clouds that show just how powerful our planet can be.
