Every spring, a dangerous journey begins for the brave men of Kholodnaia. Dimitri is one of the few skilled drivers that can make the 65 km voyage to deliver supplies to isolated reindeer breeders living in the high Siberian plateaus. The conditions on this treacherous journey are extreme: temperatures reach as low as -20º, and Dimitri must stay vigilant to avoid bears and traverse crumbling bridges and glaciers. Although it might take over two weeks to complete, no one else has dared attempt this mission since the plateaus were cut off from civilization 6 months ago.
This incredible feat of bravery was documented by National Geographic in their documentary “The Ice Truckers of Siberia”. The film follows Dimitri and his companions as they overcome extreme obstacles to bring essential supplies to those in need.
