Living with learning disabilities – training as teachers

In Germany, there is a unique program designed to train people with mental disabilities and learning difficulties to become teachers in diverse fields such as social studies, medicine, design, and architecture. This program, sponsored by the Institute for Inclusive Education at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, aims to offer these individuals an opportunity to reach their full potential by celebrating their unique perspectives.

If these participants complete the training program, they will be hired as “education specialists,” with employment contracts similar to those of university lecturers or assistant professors.
