In the Atacama desert of Chile, huge heaps of unsold, used clothes have piled up over the years, a symbol of the disastrous environmental impact of the fast fashion industry. The desert dumping ground is home for many refugees from Venezuela, who are sifting through the textiles into hopelessness, looking for usable clothes.
Meet Manuela Olivos, who lives in a hut surrounded by mountains of discarded clothes. She makes a living from this vast, fast-fashion dumping ground, collecting anything that she can sell. Unfold the story through her eyes and find out more about the impact of the fashion industry on not only the environment but also the people who are trying to survive amidst the “cemetery for used clothes.”
