Chemistry: A Volatile History

The explosive story of chemistry is the story of the building blocks that make up our world – the elements. From fire to match the brightness undefiled pure gold and the brightness of potassium violent, violet, everything is made of elements – the earth beneath our feet, the air we breathe, even for us. However, for centuries, this world was largely unknown and misunderstood completely.

In this series of three parts, theoretical physics professor Jim Al-Khalili traces the extraordinary story of how the elements were discovered and mapped. He follows in the footsteps of the pioneers who cracked the secrets and created a new science, pushing us in the modern age.

In the end, Professor Al-Khalili discovers success stories and the pain in the history of the Battle of the drug to control and combine the elements, and build our modern world. He reveals the spectacular advances that leverages its power to deliver almost unimaginable power, and travel to the center of modern alchemy, where scientists are trying to control the extreme forces of nature and create new items.
