Libya, officially the State of Libya, is a country in the Maghreb region in North Africa. It is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Egypt to the east, Sudan to the southeast, Chad to the south, Niger to the southwest, Algeria to the west, and Tunisia to the northwest.
Its economy depends mostly on revenue from the petroleum sector, which represents 95% of export earnings and 60% of GDP. Because of the oil revenue and a small population, Libya has one of the highest nominal per capita GDP in Africa.
The vast desert country veiled from the East by fear, prejudice and misunderstanding. In this documentary, we cross the Sahara and discover a little-known land of exotic brilliance, ancient cities and forbidding deserts.
