One of the many theories about Game of Thrones is that the series is based on British history. George R.R. Martin has never publicly acknowledged that, but many of his readers find similarities with British history.

One of the more popular theories is that the books and the TV show later on, are based on the story of the House of Plantagenet. This royal house that originated from the lands of Anjou in France marks the most shocking period of Britain

They ruled the country for more than 300 years, ruthlessly crushing all competition. Their story is more shocking and brutal than anything you can find in the Game of Thrones sage.

But the dynasty did dragged Britain out of the dark ages and into the modern world. This documentary drama brings to life their story and history.
