The difference in the dollar estimates reflects differing reported amounts and currency conversions, so the record is best described as approximately $104 million for that Saturday.

Deadline described the achievement as the highest single-day gross for a studio film in China, with Zootopia 2 passing Avengers: Endgame. Other reports used the narrower or differently framed descriptions “non-Chinese film,” “MPA film,” and “Hollywood film.” The safest conclusion is that it set a reported single-day China record for a non-Chinese studio release; this does not establish a record among all films released in China.

Variety reported that the $272 million China opening was the biggest opening for a non-local animated film and the second-biggest non-local opening after Avengers: Endgame. The separate single-day record concerns one Saturday’s gross, not either opening-period total.
Was it the first film to cross $100 million in one China day?
Contemporaneous reporting described Zootopia 2 as the first Hollywood film to earn more than $100 million in a single day in China. Ne Zha 2, a Chinese animated film, was reported as the only other animated film to exceed $100 million in one day there. That comparison is about animated films and a one-day threshold; it does not make Zootopia 2 the highest-grossing film in China overall.

Did Zootopia 2 beat Avengers: Endgame?
It beat the reported Endgame benchmark for a single day in China, but that does not mean it surpassed the Marvel film in every box-office category. The comparison changes with the measure, and reported totals can differ by source and currency conversion. For example, a January 2026 Sacnilk comparison put China cumulative grosses at ¥4.250 billion for Zootopia 2 and ¥4.249 billion for Endgame, while its dollar conversions put Endgame ahead, at $632 million versus $607 million. Those figures come from a secondary aggregator and are not a primary-source final accounting.

A December 31, 2025 report by ComicBasics put Zootopia 2 at about $1.46 billion worldwide and said it had passed Frozen 2 to become Disney Animation’s highest-grossing film. That is a dated, secondary report rather than a live total, so it should not be read as the film’s current worldwide gross or as a verified present-day ranking.
