No verified body-weight figure or anorexia diagnosis for Zendaya is established by the cited reporting. The public record instead documents years of body-shaming, her advocacy for body acceptance, a dispute over photo retouching, and a 2016 comedian’s accusation that Zendaya challenged.
Is Zendaya’s body weight publicly verified?
The cited coverage does not establish a verified figure for Zendaya’s weight. In a 2014 interview reported by Seventeen, she responded to comments that she was “too skinny,” describing herself as naturally thin and happy with her body. That is her reported self-description, not a measurement or medical assessment.

Appearance and public comments about it cannot establish a person’s weight, health, or diagnosis. The available reporting provides no basis for presenting a number as fact.
What happened before the 2016 accusation?
2014: Zendaya answers “too skinny” comments
Seventeen reported in November 2014 that Zendaya addressed remarks about her being too thin and said she was naturally thin and happy with her body. The report documents what she said in public; it does not determine why she looked a certain way or assess her health.

2015: Zendaya objects to a retouched magazine image
In October 2015, Zendaya said a Modeliste Magazine photo had been altered to make her hips and torso look slimmer. In a post quoted by CBS News, she objected that such images could make women self-conscious and promote unrealistic beauty ideals. She shared what she described as the unaltered image; CBS reported that editor-in-chief Amy McCabe said the magazine pulled the issue after speaking with Zendaya and her parents.
2015: She describes the limits of public advocacy
In a November 2015 TIME interview, Zendaya discussed body image and public scrutiny. She said that writing about self-acceptance would not necessarily change someone’s life completely, but could “spark a change” or be “a piece to somebody’s puzzle.” Her comments were advocacy, not a disclosure of a medical condition.

What were the anorexia accusations, and how did Zendaya respond?
After Zendaya appeared at the Kids’ Choice Awards in March 2016, comedian Julie Klausner made weight-related comments and accused her of having an eating disorder. TheWrap and Entertainment Tonight reported the exchange; the accusation was Klausner’s public commentary, not a verified diagnosis or medical finding. See TheWrap’s account and Entertainment Tonight’s report.
Zendaya challenged the remarks on social media. As reproduced by TheWrap, she asked, “Do you find this funny?” and said she would write another paragraph to educate Klausner. She also urged people to look in the mirror and love their bodies, using the hashtags “#thickgirlswinning” and “#skinnygirlswinning.” Her response rejected body-shaming across body types; it did not confirm or offer a medical assessment.
What can the public record establish?
- Documented: Zendaya publicly described herself as naturally thin in 2014, objected to body-shaming, criticized a magazine image she said had been retouched, and promoted body acceptance.
- Also documented: Klausner made an eating-disorder accusation in 2016, and Zendaya publicly pushed back.
- Not established by these reports: Zendaya’s numerical body weight, private medical history, or an anorexia diagnosis.
Contemporaneous reporting can establish what people said publicly and how the dispute unfolded. It cannot turn an appearance-based allegation into evidence of a private health condition.
