The app can show up to four eligible live programs at once, with controls to switch the audio or enlarge one program. You need iOS 15 or later, and the channels available in a Multiview depend on your plan and eligible content.
What YouTube TV Multiview does on iPhone and iPad
Multiview places up to four eligible live programs on screen together. Tap a program to make its audio the active audio, or expand the selected view to full screen. YouTube TV documents this feature and its iOS controls in its iPhone and iPad Multiview help page.
This is a feature of the paid YouTube TV live-TV service, not simply the regular YouTube app or a YouTube Primetime Channels purchase. The YouTube TV app is the viewing app; installing it alone does not provide a YouTube TV subscription or paid add-on channels.
Which iPhones and iPads are supported?
YouTube TV lists iPhone and iPad support for devices running iOS 15 or later on its product page. That is the published software requirement, not a guarantee that every device capable of installing iOS 15 will have identical performance. YouTube TV warns that older devices may have fewer Multiview customization options or lower picture quality; it does not publish a complete iPhone and iPad model list for the feature.

How to start Multiview in the iOS app
- Open the YouTube TV app and start watching eligible live content.
- Tap the video to show the player controls.
- Tap Multiview.
- At the bottom of the screen, choose a content type.
- Select an available program to add it to the layout.
The Multiview button appears with eligible content; it is not a control for combining any programs on demand.
Switch audio, expand a program, or leave Multiview
Choose which program to hear
Tap the pane you want to hear. YouTube TV marks it as the active audio source; the feature does not ordinarily play four audio tracks at once. Captions and audio follow the selected program where supported.

Make one program full screen
Select the view whose audio is active, then tap the Full screen control at the bottom right. Use the exit-full-screen control to return to the Multiview layout.
Return to regular channel viewing
Tap the screen to open the bottom panel, select the Networks tab, and choose a network. You can also tap the screen and use the Back icon.

Can you choose any four channels?
No. You can select from eligible content shown in the Multiview builder, but YouTube TV does not guarantee every possible combination of four channels. Some combinations may be curated or surfaced by the service, and certain family-friendly programming is excluded. Add-on channels and events require the relevant subscription. The practical distinction is between choosing among available options and having unrestricted, free-form control over four arbitrary channels.
Why the Multiview option may be missing
A missing button does not by itself show that the app is broken. Availability can depend on the program, the channels included with your plan, and whether a required sports add-on is active. An unavailable channel combination, older device, or outdated app or operating system may also affect what appears. Check that you are signed in, using the YouTube TV app, running iOS 15 or later, and watching eligible live content. If a particular event needs an add-on, confirm that subscription separately.

Important limits: browser, AirPlay, and casting
- Mobile browser: YouTube TV says Multiview is not supported in a web browser, so use the iPhone or iPad app rather than Safari.
- AirPlay: YouTube TV does not support AirPlay for Multiview. This restriction is specific to Multiview and should not be read as a statement about every kind of ordinary single-program playback.
- Casting: YouTube’s general Multiview help page says casting from a mobile device to a TV is supported, while AirPlay is not. That does not guarantee compatibility with every television or receiver.
- Small-screen trade-off: Four live panes can be difficult to watch closely on an iPhone. Streaming several feeds for a long session may also use substantial mobile data and battery; those are practical considerations, not YouTube-published measurements for Multiview.
Do you need NFL Sunday Ticket or a particular plan?
NFL Sunday Ticket is not required for every use of Multiview. YouTube TV treats Multiview as a product feature, while access to the programs inside a layout depends on the channels and add-ons available to your account. Certain NFL content has separate requirements: for example, NFL RedZone requires the appropriate NFL subscription, and NFL Sunday Ticket Multiview is limited to eligible NFL games.
YouTube’s February 2026 plan announcement says subscribers to its different plan options retain features including Multiview. Its product page lists the main plan at $82.99 per month with 100-plus channels and the Sports Plan at $64.99 per month with 30-plus channels. These are U.S. prices shown on YouTube’s pages as of August 18, 2026, and may change. A feature included with a plan does not mean that plan includes every channel or sports package: channel access varies by plan, and some content requires an add-on. YouTube TV describes its service as U.S.-only.

Who is Multiview on iPhone and iPad useful for?
- A good fit: YouTube TV subscribers who want to monitor several simultaneous games while away from a television, provided their device and plan can access the desired programs.
- A weaker fit: Viewers who need arbitrary four-channel combinations, rely on AirPlay to move Multiview to a TV, or want only one occasional event and do not otherwise need a live-TV bundle.
