A YouTube Live Control Room audio warning is about the stream YouTube is receiving; it is not a loudness reading. Start with the exact warning and timestamp beside the Health Indicator, check the encoder’s audio output, then listen to the outgoing feed. Use a loudness meter separately if the music sounds uneven. YouTube’s published guidance specifies audio encoding settings, but does not establish a LUFS target for 24/7 music streams.
What does a YouTube stream health warning mean?
In Live Control Room, YouTube places live-stream error messages beside the Health Indicator and timestamps them. Its documentation classifies red errors as critical and yellow errors as moderate. A red error may prevent a stream from starting or affect viewers; a yellow one may degrade quality. Note the full message and timestamp before changing settings, because the message identifies the issue YouTube detected. YouTube’s stream error guidance lists audio problems such as missing audio, multiple audio streams, unsupported codec, incorrect bitrate or sample rate, and more than two channels.
A health warning does not tell you whether music is too quiet, too loud, distorted, or inconsistent. Those are audible and loudness-measurement questions. Conversely, music that sounds fine to you can still be sent in an audio format that triggers an ingest warning.
Why does my YouTube stream say no audio?
First establish whether the encoder is sending audio at all. Check the audio source, routing, mute state, and encoder output rather than assuming the video file contains an audible track. Then use the warning to check whether YouTube is receiving the expected number of audio streams and channels.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check the incoming audio configuration
YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists AAC or MP3 as audio codecs and recommends stereo audio at 128 Kbps and a 44.1 kHz sample rate. Its documented checks expect one audio stream and mono or stereo channel count. For RTMP/RTMPS, the error guidance specifies AAC in the expected configuration when correcting an unsupported audio codec warning. Follow the specific message and verify the current YouTube encoder settings and error guidance, since platform ingest requirements can change.
- Missing audio: Confirm the encoder has an active audio source and is not muted; play the encoder output or its preview if available.
- Multiple audio streams: Configure the encoder to send one audio stream.
- Unsupported codec: Use a supported codec and match the expected RTMP/RTMPS configuration.
- Incorrect bitrate or sample rate: Compare the actual encoder output with the current YouTube guidance; the cited stereo values are 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz.
- Too many channels: Send mono or stereo, not more than two channels.
How should I check the sound listeners receive?
Listen to the outgoing feed, not only to the source file or a meter in the editing session. YouTube recommends testing with representative audio before going live and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. For a recurring 24/7 stream, make the check repeatable: test representative quiet and loud material, verify the preview and audience-facing playback, and arrange for a person or alerting process to check stream and audio health during operation. These are monitoring practices, not a YouTube uptime guarantee.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Check the encoder: Listen directly to its output and inspect its dashboard for encoder errors.
- Check the local archive: If you record locally, listen to the recording. If it already sounds wrong, investigate the source, mix, or routing before blaming YouTube.
- Check the playback path: If encoder output and archive sound healthy but listeners report a problem, investigate the outbound connection and audience playback path.
- Monitor over time: A quick start-up check cannot establish that a continuous stream will remain healthy or that every later audio fault will be detected.
YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the encoder, CPU load, and local archive as distinct parts of diagnosis.
What LUFS should a 24/7 YouTube music stream be?
The YouTube Help guidance cited here does not publish a YouTube-specific LUFS target for continuous live music. Do not treat −14 LUFS, −23 LUFS, or a particular true-peak ceiling as a YouTube requirement on this evidence. First diagnose any technical Health Indicator error using the encoder settings; then assess the programme’s audible level and consistency independently.

A loudness meter can help show how level changes over time, where a peak meter alone cannot describe programme loudness. The European Broadcasting Union’s EBU R 128 version 5.0 (November 2023) is broadcast guidance that recommends average programme loudness of −23 LUFS and use of Loudness Range and Maximum True Peak Level descriptors. That is not a YouTube Live requirement. EBU Mode readings include Momentary (400 ms), Short-term (3 seconds), and Integrated (from start to stop). Use measurements to investigate a real consistency or peak problem rather than to claim compliance with a YouTube target that these sources do not set.
How do I tell an audio fault from a connection problem?
Separate the diagnostic layers. If the encoder output or local archive is already faulty, inspect the source, routing, encoder, or system load. If those are healthy, examine the outbound connection. YouTube says available upload bandwidth must support the total streaming bitrate and recommends leaving 20% headroom; where applicable, account for both primary and backup stream bitrate. Network interruptions can break a stream. See YouTube’s streaming tips for current guidance.

A codec, channel-count, or sample-rate warning calls for a configuration correction, not a loudness adjustment. A stable connection will not fix an invalid audio configuration, and changing gain will not fix a network interruption.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why is my YouTube live stream audio warning showing?
- Read the exact text and timestamp beside the Health Indicator in Live Control Room. Note whether it is red or yellow and whether the warning returns after a change.
- Check what the encoder sends: Confirm audio is active, there is one audio stream, the channel count is mono or stereo, and codec, bitrate, and sample rate match the current YouTube guidance.
- Listen at the encoder and inspect its dashboard for errors or high CPU load; compare with the local archive if you record one.
- If those sound healthy, check outbound bandwidth against the total stream bitrate, leaving the recommended 20% headroom and including a backup feed when applicable.
- After fixing the indicated issue, check Live Control Room again and listen to the viewer-facing playback. A warning-free indicator is not a loudness measurement.
YouTube’s general live streaming tips advise setting up in advance, starting the encoder before the event, checking the preview, and continuously monitoring the stream. They do not promise uninterrupted operation for a 24/7 channel.

Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube channel that loops uploaded recordings, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing needs to stay on at home. It streams the uploaded quality as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; automatic recovery is available if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. This is a way to keep uploaded videos running, not to go live from a camera; you still need to monitor the stream’s audio and YouTube health.
