If YouTube’s Create → Go live option is missing, check your channel’s live-streaming eligibility in YouTube Studio, verify the channel, and make sure it has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days. If you just enabled live streaming, YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours. Mobile streaming has extra requirements, including at least 50 subscribers; that threshold does not apply to the documented computer webcam and encoder setup routes.

First, check how you’re trying to go live

The requirements depend on whether you’re using the YouTube mobile app or a computer. YouTube’s mobile route has an additional subscriber minimum and device requirements. On a computer, YouTube documents webcam and encoder options; its general guidance for those routes does not state the mobile subscriber threshold.

  • Phone or tablet: Check the mobile eligibility requirements below.
  • Computer: Check channel verification, recent restrictions, and whether live streaming is enabled. You can use a webcam or an encoder.

YouTube’s current general guidance says you must be at least 16 years old to start a live stream. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming

Check live-streaming eligibility in YouTube Studio

  1. Open YouTube Studio.
  2. Go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
  3. Inspect the available feature levels and the status for live streaming. YouTube says features you can access show Enabled next to them; some features have separate eligibility requirements. YouTube Help: Learn about feature access for YouTube Creators

If live streaming is not enabled, follow the prompts shown for your account. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. That is an upper activation window in its guidance, not a promise that the option will appear exactly 24 hours after you request access. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming

Confirm verification and check for a recent restriction

YouTube requires a verified channel to live stream and says the channel must not have had a live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days. Check that the channel you verified is the same channel selected in YouTube Studio, especially if you manage more than one. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming

A live-streaming restriction during that period can explain why the option is unavailable. Public help pages cannot reveal an individual channel’s internal status; use the status shown in Studio and YouTube’s available support route rather than assuming the account has an undisclosed penalty.

If you’re using the YouTube mobile app

Mobile live streaming has requirements beyond the general channel checks. YouTube’s current help guidance requires at least 50 subscribers, a supported device, a verified channel, no live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days, and live streaming turned on. YouTube Help: Create a live stream on mobile

  • Fewer than 50 subscribers: The mobile live option may not be available. This is a mobile requirement, not a blanket requirement for computer streaming.
  • Device compatibility: Check YouTube’s current mobile help page for the supported-device and operating-system requirements; requirements can change.
  • Newly enabled access: If this is your first activation, allow YouTube’s stated window of up to 24 hours before concluding that activation has failed.

On a computer, use the webcam or encoder route

YouTube documents both webcam streaming and encoder streaming on a computer. A webcam setup requires live streaming to have been enabled first. If the feature is enabled but Create → Go live is still absent, open YouTube Studio directly and follow the computer setup guidance for the method you intend to use. Do not apply the mobile 50-subscriber minimum to the computer routes based on YouTube’s general setup guidance: that threshold is specified for mobile, not stated as a condition for computer webcam or encoder streaming.

If the option is still missing

  1. Make sure you are signed into the channel you intend to stream from, then revisit YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
  2. Confirm that live streaming is enabled, the channel is verified, and there has been no live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days.
  3. If you are on mobile, separately confirm the subscriber minimum and supported-device requirements.
  4. If you have just enabled live streaming for the first time, wait up to 24 hours for activation.
  5. If those published checks do not account for the missing option, send feedback in YouTube or use the support route available to your account. Public help pages cannot diagnose a channel-specific status.

YouTube can change its age, device, and feature-access rules. Check the linked official help pages for the current requirements if they differ from what you see in Studio.
