For a Punjabi music playlist streamed to YouTube at 1080p and 30 fps, use a live-encoder profile—not upload-video settings—with a codec-matched bitrate, constant bitrate (CBR), and a 2-second keyframe interval. YouTube recommends 14 Mbps for H.264 or 10 Mbps for AV1/H.265 at this resolution and frame rate. Those settings help deliver the signal; they do not grant music rights or prevent Content ID interruptions.
Recommended YouTube Live encoder settings for 1080p30
Use the bitrate row for the codec your encoder actually sends. YouTube’s live-stream recommendations distinguish codecs; do not substitute its separate upload-video guidance. The figures below are YouTube recommendations, not independent performance tests. See YouTube’s live encoder settings.
| Video codec | Minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| H.264 | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| AV1 or H.265/HEVC | 4 Mbps | 10 Mbps |
These are incoming live-video bitrates. Your connection must carry the total stream bitrate, including audio, with capacity to spare. YouTube says the total bitrate cannot exceed available upload bandwidth; check your connection under conditions similar to the planned broadcast and monitor stream health while live. A stable wired connection is a practical choice when available, not a platform requirement for a particular router, ISP, or cable.
Core video configuration
- Resolution and frame rate: 1920×1080 progressive at 30 fps.
- Bitrate mode: CBR.
- Keyframes: every 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds.
- Protocol: RTMPS where your encoder supports it. YouTube lists RTMP and RTMPS and recommends RTMPS.
Audio and color
Use stereo AAC if available; YouTube also lists MP3 as an accepted live audio codec. For stereo advanced audio settings, YouTube lists 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. For SDR, its recommendations include Rec. 709 color space, square pixels, progressive scan, two B-frames, one reference frame, and CABAC. These options may appear under different names or be fixed by your encoder; prioritize a supported output and verify what reaches YouTube during a rehearsal.

Configure the encoder and connect it to YouTube
- Set the output. In your encoder, set the canvas/output to 1920×1080 progressive at 30 fps. Select a supported codec and match its YouTube live bitrate recommendation above.
- Set rate control and keyframes. Choose CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval. Keep the interval at or below 4 seconds.
- Configure audio. Choose stereo AAC when supported, with 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps as YouTube’s listed advanced stereo recommendations. MP3 is also listed as supported.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or schedule the live stream and retrieve its stream URL and stream key. Enter those into the corresponding server/URL and key fields in your encoder. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your event.
- Choose automatic or manual resolution settings. YouTube says encoder settings are detected automatically by default. If you need to select resolution manually, its help page directs you to create a custom stream key and enable manual settings.
- Start a rehearsal before the broadcast. Send a private or unlisted test if appropriate for your event, play audio and movement similar to the planned playlist, and check YouTube’s stream health and messages. Confirm the picture, sound, transitions, and any pauses between tracks before relying on the setup.
- Go live and keep watch. Monitor audio and video quality and YouTube’s stream-health notices during the broadcast. A bitrate figure alone cannot diagnose a congested or unstable connection.
Choose latency for a playlist, not a conversation
YouTube defines stream latency as the delay between capture at the encoder or camera and the stream appearing to viewers. Lower latency can increase playback buffering. For a non-interactive music playlist, normal latency is a sensible default; that is a practical choice based on the latency tradeoff, not a special YouTube rule for playlists. Consider lower latency only when near-live interaction matters and a rehearsal shows stable playback. DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume; decide whether that control suits the audience and event. Details are in YouTube’s stream latency guidance.
Clear Punjabi music rights before you broadcast
Having an audio file—or choosing technically correct encoder settings—does not establish permission to livestream a song. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A detected match can trigger a warning; if the content remains, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder image, interrupt it temporarily, or terminate it. Licensed third-party music may still interrupt a stream unless the rights owner adds your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the licensor or rights holder to confirm allowlisting before the event and verify that the permission covers the intended territories and uses. An archived stream may receive a Content ID claim after the live broadcast ends. See YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.

Troubleshoot common stream problems
| Symptom | Likely cause to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube reports poor stream health or viewers see buffering. | The connection may not sustain the total bitrate, or its capacity may fluctuate. | Check available upload bandwidth and connection stability; ensure total stream bitrate fits with headroom. Rehearse and monitor YouTube’s stream health. |
| Video looks soft or the encoder output is not 1080p30. | The encoder output or YouTube stream-key settings may not be configured for the intended resolution. | Check for 1920×1080 progressive at 30 fps. If manual selection is needed, follow YouTube’s custom stream key and manual settings procedure. |
| Audio is silent, distorted, or uneven between tracks. | The encoder’s audio source, format, or playlist transitions may not match the expected output. | Check the selected audio source and stereo output; rehearse the full playlist path, including transitions and silence, and inspect the audio in YouTube’s preview. |
| The stream shows a copyright warning, placeholder, interruption, or termination. | A third-party-content match or missing channel allowlist may be involved, even where music has been licensed. | Contact the rights holder or licensor, confirm live and archive permissions for the intended territories, and ask them to verify Content ID allowlisting for your channel. |
| Viewers report delay or playback buffering. | Latency mode trades delay against the possibility of buffering; connection or encoding instability may also matter. | For a playlist without interaction, try normal latency. Use lower latency only when interaction justifies it and a rehearsal remains stable. |
