For a pre-recorded playlist at 25 frames per second, play the videos through encoder or media-playback software and send that output to a scheduled YouTube Live event. Set the encoder output to 25 fps when supported, use YouTube’s live recommendations as a starting point for resolution, bitrate and keyframes, and test the playlist’s transitions and repeat behavior before going live. YouTube’s published live bitrate table has 30 and 60 fps rows, not a 25 fps row, so its 30 fps figures are reference points—not official 25 fps prescriptions.
How the setup works
YouTube Live receives a feed from an encoder. The encoder or connected playback software plays the pre-recorded videos and sends their combined output to YouTube using the event’s stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s setup pages explain how to connect an encoder; they do not document controls for building or looping a playlist. Check those controls in the software you choose.
The guidance below reflects YouTube Help pages accessed in October 2026; the retrieved live-settings page does not state a publication date.
Recommended settings for a 25 fps source
| Setting | Practical choice | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Frame rate | 25 fps, if your encoder supports it | YouTube supports live frame rates up to 60 fps. Its upload guide lists 25 fps as a common rate and advises matching the recording rate for uploads; applying that continuity principle to live output is a practical recommendation, not a live-specific rule. |
| Video codec and transport | H.264 over RTMPS for a broadly compatible SDR workflow | YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS with H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1. Choose a combination your encoder supports. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube recommends constant bitrate for live encoding. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds. |
| Scan and pixels | Progressive scan; square pixels | Use the encoder’s equivalent options if they are named differently. |
| Other H.264 video options | Two B-frames, one reference frame, CABAC | YouTube lists these in its live encoder guidance; availability and labels vary by encoder. |
| SDR color | Rec. 709, 8-bit | YouTube’s listed SDR guidance. |
| Audio | AAC or MP3 over RTMP/RTMPS; stereo at 44.1 kHz; 128 Kbps | YouTube lists AAC or MP3, 44.1 kHz for stereo, and recommends 128 Kbps for stereo audio. |
These are YouTube’s published live encoder recommendations as retrieved in October 2026; the page does not show a publication year. The available encoder may not expose every setting under the same name.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose a bitrate without treating 30 fps as 25 fps guidance
YouTube says recommended bitrate depends on codec, resolution and frame rate. Its H.264 table does not include a 25 fps row. The following 30 fps values can help orient a test at the closest listed frame-rate category, but they are not YouTube-prescribed bitrates for a 25 fps stream.
| Output resolution and table frame rate | H.264 minimum | H.264 recommended | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps | YouTube live encoder settings; publication date not stated; accessed October 2026. Reference only for a 25 fps output. |
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps | YouTube live encoder settings; publication date not stated; accessed October 2026. Reference only for a 25 fps output. |
Choose the row nearest your intended output resolution, then test the actual playlist and watch stream health. Ensure the encoder has reliable upload bandwidth above its video bitrate; leave room for audio and normal connection variation rather than operating at the connection’s full capacity.

Connect the encoder and check the playlist
- Create the event: In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule the live stream.
- Copy the connection details: Copy the event’s stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s streaming settings. YouTube describes the key as functioning like a password and an address for the encoder connection. Keep it private; if it is compromised, reset it in Live Control Room.
- Load the media: Add the pre-recorded videos to the encoder or media-playback software’s playlist. Confirm the ordering, transitions, audio continuity, what happens at the end of the list, and whether repeat or looping is enabled as intended. These are software-side checks, not playlist controls documented on YouTube’s setup pages.
- Run a test: Start a test stream and inspect the Live Control Room preview before the public broadcast. YouTube recommends testing with movement and audio similar to the intended stream.
- Monitor the broadcast: Watch Live Control Room stream health and respond to warnings. Check that the encoder continues to play the list and that the output remains stable through transitions and repeats.
YouTube’s encoder guidance says: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.”
Latency and DVR for pre-recorded playback
Latency is the delay between capture at the encoder or camera and playback for viewers. If the stream is a pre-recorded playlist and you do not need real-time audience interaction, low latency may matter less than a stable, uninterrupted feed. Lower latency can mean more buffering. DVR, when enabled, lets viewers pause, rewind and resume during the live stream.

Troubleshooting
- No preview or the event does not receive video: Check that the encoder is using the stream URL and key for the scheduled event, and that its output has been started. Re-copy the connection details from Live Control Room if needed; reset the key if it may have been exposed.
- Unstable stream health or buffering: Check that the connection has reliable upload capacity above the encoder bitrate. If necessary, reduce the output bitrate or resolution, then test again and monitor Live Control Room.
- Video cadence looks wrong: Confirm the source and encoder output are set consistently at 25 fps where supported. Avoid changing the frame rate without a production reason; test representative footage and transitions.
- Playlist stops or fails to repeat: Inspect the selected software’s end-of-list and repeat settings. YouTube’s connection setup does not establish how a third-party encoder handles playlists.
- Audio is missing or out of sync: Check the playback software’s audio routing and the encoder’s selected audio input and format. Test with representative audio before going live.
- Warnings appear despite apparently correct settings: Review Live Control Room stream health, verify the encoder settings against the supported options in your software, and test again with representative motion and audio.
Copyright and monetization checks for a documentary playlist
Technical compatibility does not establish that you have permission to broadcast the videos. Before scheduling a stream, verify the rights to the footage, music, narration and any other material in every video, including clips that may have been licensed only for on-demand use. Also review YouTube’s current copyright rules and monetization policies for reused content; a technically successful stream does not guarantee monetization eligibility. Keep documentation of licenses and permissions, and resolve claims or restrictions before relying on a playlist for continuous playback.
