There is no documented native YouTube Live Redirect for automatically sending viewers to an always-on stream on another platform. For a handoff to another YouTube live stream or Premiere, use YouTube Live Redirect if your channel is eligible and the destination permits it. For a same-platform handoff on Twitch, Raids are the closest documented counterpart—but a Twitch Raid does not redirect viewers from YouTube.
Which option fits your destination?

The distinction matters: YouTube documents a post-stream handoff to YouTube content, while Twitch documents a handoff between Twitch channels. Neither feature establishes automatic routing to an external platform’s perpetually running stream.
Set up YouTube Live Redirect
YouTube’s current Help guidance says the creator sending the redirect must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes. The recipient channel must also permit redirects. Available destinations described by YouTube include active or upcoming live streams and upcoming Premieres; what appears in your account may depend on availability and recipient permissions.
- In YouTube Studio, open the live video you are preparing to use as the source.
- Open its Customization settings and add a Redirect.
- Select an eligible Premiere or another channel’s live stream. If it belongs to another channel, confirm that channel allows your redirect.
- Save the setting. If you are redirecting to a Premiere, prepare it before starting the source stream.
- Tell viewers that their screens may take a few seconds to reload after the source stream ends.
Check the destination channel’s permission
Recipient-side controls can allow redirects from channels the creator subscribes to, allow all channels, or allow specific channels approved manually. YouTube’s Help guidance says the manual approval list can contain up to 100 channels. If the intended destination does not appear, check its redirect permissions as well as whether the selected content is an eligible, active or upcoming destination.

Use a Twitch Raid for a Twitch-to-Twitch handoff
Twitch says creators can Raid another channel regardless of Affiliate or Partner status. The handoff is to another Twitch channel, and Twitch’s help guidance describes it as moving viewers connected to chat when the Raid begins. It does not send YouTube viewers to Twitch.
- From Twitch mobile, enter
/raidfollowed by the target channel, or use Raid Channel in the Creator Dashboard. - Review the target and start the Raid.
- During the countdown, viewers have an opportunity to opt out before it begins.
A Raid is a Twitch feature, not an external-link router. If your source is on YouTube and the destination is a Twitch stream, share the destination link or announce it to viewers manually; official documentation reviewed here does not verify a native automatic cross-platform handoff.

A redirect controls where viewers go after a stream ends; it does not keep a source stream running continuously. Common problems and what to check
- The redirect option or destination is missing: Check the sender’s subscriber and strike eligibility, recipient permissions, and whether the destination is an eligible active or upcoming stream or Premiere.
- The destination is on another platform: YouTube Live Redirect is documented for YouTube destinations. Share an external destination link manually rather than expecting a native automatic redirect.
- Viewers remain on the source stream after it ends: YouTube describes the handoff as autoplay after the stream ends. Tell viewers screens may take a few seconds to reload; do not promise an instantaneous transition.
- A Twitch Raid does not move every viewer: Twitch’s help description concerns viewers connected to chat at the time of the Raid, and viewers can opt out during the countdown.
