Set SDR color to Rec. 709 and choose normal latency if you do not need to interact with viewers. YouTube’s published settings make this a practical starting preset—not a guarantee of stable streaming or a complete 24-hour archive.
Recommended YouTube Live settings for yoga nidra
These settings are a starting point for a mostly static scene. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health with your actual video, audio, encoder, and connection before making the event public. YouTube also transcodes live input into multiple playback formats.

The codec and bitrate values are YouTube’s published ingestion guidance. They are not a guarantee of playback quality; test the actual background, motion, and audio and adjust only after checking image quality and connection stability. YouTube’s instruction is direct: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Check upload capacity at the streaming location
At an 8 Mbps video bitrate, plan for at least 9.6 Mbps sustained outbound capacity. That figure is the 8 Mbps target plus 20% headroom, calculated using YouTube’s recommendation to leave 20% above the stream bitrate. If you send primary and backup streams at the same time, add their bitrates together before allowing for that headroom.

- Run an upload speed test from the place and connection the stream will use. Download speed does not tell you whether outbound capacity is sufficient.
- Account for other people and devices sharing the connection; their traffic can reduce the capacity available to the encoder.
- Prefer a stable wired connection when available, and monitor stream health during the broadcast. A brief connectivity disruption can break a live stream.

Set up and test the stream before going live
- Create or schedule the YouTube live event. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and set up the stream in advance. Use the stream URL and stream key provided for the intended event.
- Enter the destination in your encoder. Select RTMPS if the encoder offers it, then enter the correct server URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the stream.
- Apply the video and audio preset. Set H.264, 720p progressive at 30 fps, CBR at 8 Mbps, and a two-second keyframe interval. Set AAC stereo to 128 kbps at 44.1 kHz and use Rec. 709 SDR if the source is SDR.
- Test the actual programme. Send the yoga nidra video and listen to the narration or ambient sound. Check the start, fades, changes in the picture, and the point where the video loops. Confirm the Live Control Room preview looks and sounds right before making the event public.
- Verify backup and local recording if you rely on them. Test encoder failover by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable, then confirm the player rolls to the backup. Check that the local recording is growing and that its audio and video are playable.
- Make a monitoring plan. An unattended stream still needs someone or a process able to notice failures and respond. Testing failover and watching stream health reduce avoidable surprises; they do not establish guaranteed 24/7 uptime.
YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders. Dedicated hardware is optional, not a universal requirement for a static yoga nidra stream. Choose based on whether your encoder can reliably loop or schedule the prerecorded video, send the required codec and RTMPS feed, recover after interruption, record locally if needed, and be monitored. Understand the 12-hour archive and DVR limit
A YouTube stream can keep running while its archive and rewind behavior have important limits. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind can also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. A single 24-hour event therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed complete YouTube recording or a guaranteed full-rewind experience.
If retaining the full programme matters, make and verify a local recording. Decide whether one continuous event or shorter sessions with archive breaks better serves the channel. YouTube’s guidance does not guarantee a complete archive or uninterrupted 24-hour event for either approach. Read YouTube Help: Archive live streams and YouTube Help: DVR on live streams.

Keep the yoga nidra programme eligible and useful
Encoder settings handle the technical feed; they do not grant rights to the content or ensure that a channel qualifies for monetization. Use video, music, spoken guidance, and artwork you own or have permission to use, and check that any licence permits the intended live use. Copyright claims or restrictions can affect a broadcast. For a continuous stream, also make sure the repeated programme offers genuine value to viewers; looping material is not a substitute for meeting YouTube’s channel and monetization policies. Review the applicable rules in YouTube’s live-streaming guidance and YouTube’s current copyright and monetization policies before broadcasting.
