Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFor a pre-recorded video sent through YouTube Live at 720p and 50 frames per second, use 8 Mbps for H.264 or 6 Mbps for AV1/H.265 as a practical starting point. YouTube publishes those figures for 720p at 30 and 60 fps, but not 50 fps, so applying them to 50 fps is an inference—not an exact YouTube 720p50 recommendation. Use constant bitrate (CBR), set keyframes every two seconds, and leave upload-bandwidth headroom.
Recommended YouTube Live settings for 720p50
These settings apply when an encoder sends a pre-rendered video file to YouTube as a live broadcast. YouTube’s live encoder table gives 720p recommendations at 30 and 60 fps, but has no 50 fps row. The bitrates below are therefore practical starting points inferred from the adjacent frame-rate entries in YouTube’s table. YouTube’s live encoder settings and bitrate guidance does not identify a separate recommendation for 720p50.
| Setting | Practical choice for 720p50 | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | 1280 × 720 at 50 fps | Use this if it matches the prepared video and intended live output. |
| Video bitrate, H.264 | 8 Mbps | YouTube lists 8 Mbps for 720p30 and 720p60; applying it at 50 fps is an inference. |
| Video bitrate, AV1 or H.265/HEVC | 6 Mbps | YouTube lists 6 Mbps for 720p30 and 720p60; applying it at 50 fps is an inference. |
| Rate control | CBR (constant bitrate) | YouTube’s live encoder guidance lists constant bitrate encoding. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube advises a two-second interval and says not to exceed four seconds. |
| Connection protocol | RTMPS | YouTube recommends RTMPS for a secure connection. |
The encoder must support the codec you choose. If you are unsure about compatibility, H.264 is the straightforward choice; select AV1 or H.265 only when your encoder and workflow support it. The values in the table are video bitrates, not total stream bitrates. YouTube’s live setup guidance separately covers audio: RTMP/RTMPS supports AAC or MP3, and 5.1 surround is available only with AAC. See YouTube’s encoder guidance for the current details.
Live bitrate is not upload bitrate
“Pre-recorded” can mean either uploading a finished video normally or sending a finished file through an encoder as a live broadcast. For the latter, use the live settings above. A normal video upload follows a different recommendation: YouTube’s upload encoding guidance recommends 7.5 Mbps for 720p SDR high-frame-rate video at 48, 50, or 60 fps. That upload figure is not the live ingestion bitrate.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For a standard upload, YouTube also says to encode and upload at the frame rate at which the video was recorded. Its upload guidance lists 50 fps as a common frame rate. Do not use the upload recommendation as a substitute for the live encoder setting when broadcasting the file.
Check upload capacity before going live
Your connection needs enough available upload bandwidth for the total stream bitrate, including audio—not just the video bitrate. YouTube recommends keeping 20% headroom above the stream’s total bitrate. For example, if your total stream is 8 Mbps, aim for at least 9.6 Mbps of available upload capacity. That example applies the headroom guidance arithmetically; it is not a separate YouTube bitrate setting.

- Run a speed test that measures upload capacity. Download speed does not establish how much bandwidth is available to send the live stream.
- Allow for other devices and services using the same connection; shared network traffic can reduce available upload capacity.
- Use a reliable connection and test with conditions similar to the broadcast. YouTube’s streaming tips cover upload headroom and connection reliability.
Preflight a pre-recorded live broadcast
- Confirm the output. Check that the encoder is set to 1280 × 720, 50 fps, the intended supported codec, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. Make sure the selected live bitrate fits the upload capacity available to the stream.
- Connect to YouTube over RTMPS. Select the appropriate YouTube stream destination and key in your encoder, and keep the key private. YouTube recommends RTMPS in its live encoder guidance.
- Test the actual material. Preview the stream with audio and motion representative of the video. A static test image may not expose issues that appear in moving footage or the audio track.
- Check Live Control Room. Review the preview, stream health, and any messages before the event. YouTube’s live streaming tips recommend setting up the encoder at least two hours beforehand and starting it at least 15 minutes before the event.
Troubleshoot bitrate and stream issues
- Stream health reports dropped frames or the stream cannot sustain the selected bitrate: Check actual upload capacity and competing network use. Reduce the total stream bitrate if the connection cannot sustain it, while keeping the selected resolution and frame rate appropriate for the material.
- The encoder does not offer AV1 or H.265: Use a codec it supports, such as H.264, and set the corresponding practical starting bitrate. Do not select a codec solely because its listed bitrate is lower.
- The stream connects but the result looks poor: Check that the encoder is actually sending the intended 720p50 output and chosen video bitrate, then review YouTube’s preview and stream-health messages. The figures here are starting points, not a guarantee of a particular visual result.
- There is no separate 720p50 row in YouTube’s live table: That is the documented limitation behind these settings. The 6 Mbps and 8 Mbps choices are inferred from YouTube’s 720p30 and 720p60 recommendations; consult the current live encoder table if YouTube changes its guidance.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep a pre-recorded YouTube stream running without leaving a computer on, StreamNeo runs the uploaded video or playlist from the cloud. The basic setup is:
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the material from the cloud.
Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. StreamNeo sends your upload as made, up to 4K 60 fps, at one flat price per slot; it does not re-encode or use quality tiers. It can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo’s free first-day trial.
