Yes—YouTube now has an official Apple Vision Pro app. Google launched YouTube for visionOS on February 12, 2026, roughly two years after the headset debuted. The free app replaces Safari as the main way to watch YouTube on Vision Pro, while some account and purchasing tasks still require a browser or mobile device.

What YouTube for visionOS supports
Google refers to the experience as YouTube XR in its support documentation. It is a dedicated visionOS application—not merely a Safari shortcut or a standard iPad app running in compatibility mode.
Users can watch:
- Regular rectangular YouTube videos
- YouTube Shorts
- 360-degree video
- VR180 video
- Compatible 3D and immersive uploads
- Live streams
The app also supports signed-in subscriptions, playlists, watch history, and personalized recommendations. Google says Shorts can include comments and engagement panels.

How to install it
- Open the App Store on Apple Vision Pro.
- Select Search.
- Search for YouTube.
- Download YouTube for visionOS from Google LLC.
The current U.S. App Store listing requires visionOS 26.0 or later. Launch reporting described support for Vision Pro hardware using Apple’s M2 and M5 chips. The listing specifically advertises 8K playback on M5 Vision Pro models, so that feature should not be generalized to every headset. App availability and requirements may differ by region and can change with updates.
The app is free to download. Its current listed size is approximately 188.5 MB, but App Store metadata is subject to change.
Is YouTube Premium required?
No. A YouTube Premium subscription is not required to use the app. Premium benefits such as ad-free viewing depend on the account and service support available to the user.

There are two important limitations:
- You cannot currently subscribe to YouTube Premium inside the Vision Pro app.
- You cannot purchase YouTube content inside the app.
Use YouTube in Safari or the mobile app for Premium signup, rentals, purchases, and other account-management tasks. Premium pricing, plans, taxes, trials, and availability vary by country and account; check the official signup page.
What about offline downloads?
Offline viewing needs a qualification. Some launch coverage associated the native app with Premium offline viewing, but Google’s current YouTube XR help page does not clearly document an offline-download control for Apple Vision Pro.
Do not assume that a Premium download feature available on a phone will also work on Vision Pro. Check whether a Downloads control appears in the current app version and account, and consult Google’s device-specific documentation before relying on it for travel or offline use.

Live streams work, but live chat does not
The app supports live-stream playback. Google explicitly says that live chat is unavailable at launch, so watching a live event and participating in its chat are separate capabilities.

The native app’s biggest benefit is integration: a more appropriate visionOS interface, easier access to YouTube account features, better presentation of immersive formats, and a resizable spatial viewing surface. It does not provide an exclusive YouTube catalog. Safari remains useful for purchases, Premium signup, account settings, and features that Google has not yet added to the app.
Why did it take two years?
YouTube was one of the most conspicuous omissions when Vision Pro launched in February 2024. Google initially directed users to Safari and said a dedicated app was on its roadmap, without giving a delivery date.

The delay likely reflects the difficulty of prioritizing a specialized app for a small and expensive headset market, but Google has not publicly confirmed that as the reason. The launch is therefore both a product release and a sign that Google has decided Vision Pro warrants official support.
During YouTube’s absence, Safari was the main workaround. Juno, a third-party Vision Pro YouTube client, also attempted to fill the gap but was removed from the App Store in 2024 after Google raised policy or terms-related objections. Third-party wrappers and clients can change or disappear, may lack account features, and can introduce privacy or sign-in risks. The official app is now the safer default.

For current owners, the app is a meaningful quality-of-life improvement and removes a highly visible launch-era omission. It is especially relevant if YouTube is a major source of 360-degree, VR180, 3D, or creator content.

For prospective buyers, it strengthens the headset’s private-theater and immersive-video case, but it does not change the larger calculation. Ordinary YouTube videos were already available through Safari, and the app does not resolve Vision Pro’s cost, comfort, portability, limited mainstream adoption, or incomplete feature parity with YouTube on phones and the web.
In practical terms: install the official app for everyday viewing and immersive content, and keep Safari available for Premium signup, purchases, account management, live chat, and any feature the app does not yet support.
