Did your child qualify for the YouTube settlement?
The settlement class generally included people in the United States who, at any time from July 1, 2013, through April 1, 2020, were under 13 and watched content allegedly directed to children on YouTube. This describes the class as a whole; it does not establish that a particular person qualified. The settlement also excluded Google and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers and directors; the assigned judges and their immediate families; settlement class counsel; and people who opted out. The official FAQ lists the class terms.

Can you still file a claim?
No. The official claims page says the deadline to submit a claim electronically or by mail expired on January 21, 2026. A valid claim form had to be submitted by that date to request payment. Check the official claims page for the deadline notice; the deadline is not an invitation to file late.
How much was the payment?
The $30 million amount is the gross settlement fund under Google LLC’s 2025 settlement terms, not a promised $30 million payment to each class member. The fund is subject to deductions for notice and administration costs, taxes, court-approved attorneys’ fees and expenses, and service awards. The remaining funds are distributed pro rata among people with eligible, valid claims. The individual payment amount was not specified in advance and depends on the number of valid claims; the official FAQ says it is unknown.

When will payments arrive?
The official FAQ says payments are to be made after final court approval and resolution of any appeals. The public FAQ does not establish whether those steps are now complete or provide a current payment date, so a payout date cannot be confirmed from it. If you submitted a claim, contact the settlement administrator for the latest status.

The settlement agreement says a check must be deposited, cashed, or negotiated within 90 days or it becomes void. That is a term of the agreement, not confirmation that checks have been issued. If you receive a check, follow the instructions and deadline printed on it.
What information was required for a claim?
A valid claim form was required, and a parent or legal guardian had to submit it for a class member under 18. The agreement allowed no more than one claim per class member and specified information including a mailing address, birth month and year, an attestation that the member watched allegedly child-directed YouTube content during the class period, and an affirmation under oath that the information was true and correct. Those requirements do not reopen the expired filing period.

Does the settlement mean Google was found to have broken the law?
No. Google denies wrongdoing, and the official FAQ says the court had not decided in favor of either side when the settlement was described. As the FAQ puts it, “The proposed Settlement does not mean that any law was broken or that Google did anything wrong.” A settlement is not a finding of liability.
Use the official settlement website or administrator for claim and payment updates. Do not pay a third party to check eligibility or trust a service claiming it can reopen the expired deadline.
