If a YouTube live stream keeps disconnecting on ACT Fibernet, first compare the same stream on another device, then compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet if available. These checks help narrow the problem to a device, home Wi-Fi, the particular stream, or a broader connection issue; they do not by themselves prove packet loss or an ACT outage. A fast advertised plan does not rule out intermittent problems.
First, establish what is disconnecting
This guide addresses the viewer case: watching someone else’s YouTube live stream on an ACT connection. A viewer’s playback depends on receiving data; broadcaster upload-speed requirements apply to the channel sending a stream and are not a viewer’s download-speed thresholds.
When playback stops, note the channel, approximate time, device, and whether the video pauses or buffers, YouTube reports an error, or the device says it has lost internet access. If the issue happens repeatedly, note whether it occurs at similar times of day. These details make later comparisons and any report to ACT more useful.
Use comparisons to narrow down the cause
Change one condition at a time where possible. A result points toward an area to investigate, but it is not a definitive diagnosis.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Comparison | What the result may suggest | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Same live stream on a second device using the same ACT connection | If only one device has trouble, focus first on that device, its app or browser, and its connection to the router. | It does not rule out an intermittent network fault. |
| Another YouTube video or another internet service on the same device | If other services work but one live stream does not, the issue may be specific to that stream or its playback path. | It does not establish where that stream’s problem originates. |
| Wi-Fi compared with Ethernet | If wired playback works while Wi-Fi does not, investigate Wi-Fi signal, placement, interference, or home equipment. | A cable does not repair or rule out an ISP-side fault. |
| Usual network use compared with fewer active downloads and devices | If playback improves when competing traffic is reduced, network load may be a factor. | It does not identify which device or connection is responsible. |
| One time of day compared with another | A repeated time pattern is useful information to include in troubleshooting. | A pattern alone does not confirm congestion or packet loss. |
Check Wi-Fi, router placement, and wired playback
Move closer and reduce interference
Test with the viewing device near the router and with as few walls or other obstructions between them as practical. Pause large downloads and temporarily reduce other active network use. If the stream becomes more stable, Wi-Fi conditions or competing traffic are worth investigating; the comparison is not proof of a specific fault.
Compare with Ethernet if the device supports it
Connect the device to the router with an Ethernet cable and retry the same stream. ACT identifies Cat5e or Cat6 wired connections as an option and describes wired connections as providing consistent performance. Use a cable long enough to reach safely and compatible with the device; some devices need an adapter. Treat this as a Wi-Fi-versus-wired comparison, not a guaranteed fix.

Check playback quality and connection use
YouTube Help recommends a minimum connection speed of 7 Mbps for HD streaming on TV. This is general playback guidance, not a guarantee against interruptions and not a diagnosis of your ACT connection. If playback is unstable, temporarily choose a lower video quality and see whether the stream continues more reliably. Also reduce other active network use for a comparison.
ACT publishes figures such as 2.2 Mbps for 720p/60 fps, 3 Mbps for 1080p/60 fps, 9 Mbps for 1440p/60 fps, 13 Mbps for 4K/30 fps, and 20 Mbps for 4K/60 fps. Those are broadcaster upload-speed figures for sending a live stream, not minimum download speeds for watching one. They should not be used as a viewer’s connection threshold.

Restart and update the viewing setup
- Close and reopen the YouTube app, or reload YouTube in the browser.
- Restart the viewing device.
- Restart the router, then allow it to reconnect before testing playback again.
- Check for available updates to the YouTube app or browser and the device’s software.
- Retry the same live stream and record whether the symptom changes.
What to report to ACT if the issue persists
If multiple devices or several internet services have problems on the ACT connection, contact ACT with specific observations rather than assuming the cause is packet loss. Include:
- The dates and approximate times of interruptions, plus the affected YouTube channel or service.
- Which devices you tested and whether the problem followed one device or affected several.
- Whether you tested near the router and whether Ethernet behaved differently from Wi-Fi.
- Whether reducing other network use or lowering playback quality changed the symptom.
- Whether other services also failed at the same time.
The available provider and YouTube guidance cannot confirm an outage at your address, measure your connection’s packet loss, or prescribe an account-specific packet-loss test. Ask ACT to investigate the connection using the timestamps and comparisons you collected. ACT’s own troubleshooting information is provider-authored guidance, not independent measurement of service quality.

If you meant your own YouTube broadcast
A viewer’s playback problem and a broadcaster’s stream disconnect are different issues. The checks above diagnose the path to a viewing device; they do not troubleshoot an encoder’s upload connection or repair a viewer’s ACT service.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the separate goal is to keep your own prerecorded YouTube channel live 24/7, StreamNeo is a cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It streams uploaded video to YouTube, not a live camera feed. Each slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; the monthly option is $9.99 per month. Start a free day with StreamNeo.
