A YouTube playlist lets viewers play a sequence of videos that are already published; it does not create a continuous live broadcast. To present prerecorded meditation as one YouTube live event, send a looping feed through an encoder such as OBS—or use a cloud service that sends the feed for you. The right choice depends on whether you need a live watch page, local production controls, or a stream that does not rely on a computer at home.
Playlist and OBS loop do different jobs
| Option | What viewers get | Best fit | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube playlist | A sequence of already-published videos to play one after another. | People who want to choose or play a collection of meditation videos. | It is not the encoder feed used to create a continuous live event, so it does not provide one live watch page or an encoder-monitoring workflow. |
| OBS loop | A live feed sent from local media through streaming software. | Creators who want control of scenes, overlays, audio levels, and local files. | The computer, OBS, and internet connection must keep operating; someone also needs to monitor interruptions and the YouTube event. |
| StreamNeo cloud stream | Uploaded prerecorded video played as a continuous YouTube live stream from the cloud. | Creators who do not want a dedicated home computer running for the stream. | It is a paid service after the free first day; compare its current plans and controls with your needs. |
YouTube’s encoder guide describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming, and lists OBS among open-source encoder options. A playlist organizes published videos; it is not a substitute for that live encoder connection. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
When an OBS loop makes sense
OBS is a practical choice if you want to build a live scene around your meditation recording—for example, add a title card or visual overlay, manage audio locally, or combine multiple sources—and can keep the computer and connection running. YouTube lists OBS as open-source streaming software available at no charge. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
One video or a playlist of clips
- One repeating file: Add an OBS Media Source and enable Loop. OBS describes that setting as replaying the file after playback completes.
- Several clips: Use an OBS VLC Video source to play a playlist of items. Check the sequence and transitions before broadcasting.
OBS Media Source documentation lists common video formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. Compatibility can depend on the installed OBS build and the file itself, so confirm playback and the loop transition on the computer you will use. OBS Media Sources documentation

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up and check a YouTube live event
- Confirm live access. Your channel needs to be verified and free of active live-streaming restrictions. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do this before the planned broadcast. YouTube live-stream setup
- Prepare the source. Decide whether you are looping one file or sequencing several, then configure the OBS source and test the full playback cycle, including the loop point and audio.
- Create the event in YouTube Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, then use the stream URL and stream key supplied there to connect OBS. Keep the key private: it gives an encoder access to your live event.
- Preview before publishing. Check the video, audio, scene visibility, and watch-page access. YouTube advises monitoring audio and video quality during the stream. YouTube live encoder settings and troubleshooting
- Plan for interruptions and archiving. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its setup guidance does not promise an indefinitely running live event or archive behavior beyond that condition; do not assume one archive will capture a full 24-hour day. Rights matter for continuous meditation audio
YouTube’s livestream terms make the provider responsible for having the necessary rights for live content, expressly including music licensing rights, and for complying with applicable laws and Community Guidelines. Giving credit or labeling music “meditation” does not by itself establish permission for a continuous public livestream. Confirm that the license covers the exact recording, artwork, visuals, intended use, and territory before going live. YouTube Terms of Service · YouTube Community Guidelines
Choose based on how you want to operate
- Choose a YouTube playlist when you simply want viewers to play a set of published meditation videos, rather than present them as one live event.
- Choose OBS when local scene and audio control matter and you can keep the computer, encoder, and internet connection operating.
- Choose a cloud 24/7 service when avoiding an always-on local machine matters more. YouTube lists services including Gyre and Upstream for continuous streaming; its listing is not a comparative performance assessment. Check each service’s current pricing, controls, interruption handling, and rights workflow independently. YouTube’s encoder setup guide
Before committing, compare whether you need a live event or separate published videos, how looping and transitions work, what monitoring and recovery are available, how interruptions and archives are handled, the ongoing cost, and whether every audio and visual component is cleared for use.
