YouPorn’s first Year in Retrospect, released in December 2018, summarized activity on the platform rather than the wider internet. YouPorn reported more than 4 billion visits, more than 14 billion videos viewed, more than 1 billion searches and an average visit duration of 8 minutes 42 seconds. The original report page is no longer available at its historical URL; it now redirects to YouPorn’s home page.
The figures below come from contemporary XBIZ coverage, with demographic and device details attributed separately where the primary infographic cannot be checked.

What the 2018 report measured
YouPorn presented the retrospective as an annual summary of aggregate platform activity. The surviving coverage says it examined visits, video views, searches, average visit duration, traffic by country, and breakdowns by gender, age and device type. It was a usage report, not an independently audited study of sexual behavior or a representative survey.

The report was published in December 2018. XBIZ identified it as YouPorn’s inaugural annual retrospective, while KnowTechie’s contemporary account described it as the platform’s first such annual review.

These are publisher-reported figures relayed by contemporary coverage. The accessible sources do not explain whether “visits” means sessions, users or page visits, nor whether searches were deduplicated by user or session. The 8:42 figure is an average visit duration—not average viewing time per video, time per user, or time spent before finding a particular result.
The most-searched terms
XBIZ reported the following top six searches, in this order:
- “lesbian”
- “massage”
- “Japanese”
- “Francaise”
- “gangbang”
- “anal”
The spelling “Francaise” is retained because that is how the contemporary report presented it. The surviving sources do not establish whether it was a user-entered spelling, a category label, a translation, a reference to French content or a typographical error.

A search ranking is narrower than a preference survey. It does not show what users ultimately watched, whether a search produced a successful result, how often the same people searched, or why a term was entered. No search volumes, percentages or complete ranking are available in the accessible reporting.

Where the traffic came from
The reported order of YouPorn’s leading traffic markets was:
- United States
- Germany
- India
- France
- Italy
- United Kingdom
The sources do not provide country shares, absolute visits by country, population-adjusted rankings, or a precise definition of “traffic market.” The list should therefore be read as YouPorn’s platform ranking, not as a measure of adult-content use by entire national populations.
Age, gender and device reporting
KnowTechie reported that the 25–34 age bracket was the largest or most significant age group. It did not publish a percentage or clarify whether the comparison was based on visits, searches or another metric.
Contemporary coverage also reported an audience split of approximately 71% male and 29% female. That figure appeared in a Yahoo report discussing 2018 platform reviews, rather than in a currently accessible YouPorn graphic. It should be treated as secondary reporting. The binary categories reflect the analytics framework available to the publisher at the time, not a complete account of users’ gender identities.

KnowTechie further said tablets accounted for the largest share of traffic. No percentage is available, and the original graphic cannot currently be checked. “Tablet” may also have been reported separately from smartphones and desktop computers, so the claim should not be generalized to internet behavior worldwide.

YouPorn’s report appeared during a period when large adult platforms were turning proprietary usage data into public annual-review products. Contemporary coverage contrasted YouPorn’s new retrospective with Pornhub’s more established series, which was already in its sixth year. That is useful historical context, but the platforms’ audiences, taxonomies and measurement methods should not be assumed to be identical. Pornhub’s statistics cannot fill gaps in YouPorn’s report.
What the report cannot tell us
- Methodology: The surviving sources do not identify the analytics system, counting rules or audit process.
- Exact totals: “More than” figures should not be converted into precise counts.
- User behavior: Visits, searches and video views do not reveal individual users’ motives, identities or viewing outcomes.
- Causation: The rankings do not prove that news events, celebrities, technology or cultural trends caused them.
- Detailed demographics: Percentages for age, gender and devices, and the original category definitions, are not currently verifiable from the primary page.
- Historical access: The former URL, youporn.com/world/youporn-2018-year-in-retrospect/, now redirects to YouPorn’s home page instead of displaying the retrospective.
Why the retrospective matters
As a media-history document, YouPorn’s 2018 retrospective shows how a major platform presented internal audience data as a cultural snapshot. Its headline scale—billions of visits, views and searches—comes directly from contemporary reporting and is the most secure part of the surviving record. The more detailed claims about age, gender and devices are useful but depend on secondary accounts because the original infographic is no longer accessible. The report is therefore best read as a documented account of YouPorn’s own analytics, not as a comprehensive study of online adult-content consumption.
