Young Thug, whose legal name is Jeffery Williams, left jail after resolving his charges in October 2024. The broader prosecution continued for other defendants; by June 2025, its remaining murder charge had been dropped after a plea to a lesser offense. Understanding the case means keeping the indictment’s allegations separate from Williams’s pleas and the outcomes for other defendants.
What does “YSL” mean in the case?
In the prosecution, “YSL” referred to the alleged Young Slime Life group. Young Stoner Life is also the name of Williams’s record label. The shared initials do not establish that the label and the alleged group were the same thing.
What was Young Thug charged with?
The Fulton County reindictment alleged a RICO conspiracy and offenses including gang activity, drug and firearm offenses, assault and robbery. Those were accusations in a charging document, not findings of guilt. The Fulton County Clerk’s reindictment is the primary source for what prosecutors charged.

What did Williams plead to, and what was his sentence?
On October 31, 2024, Williams pleaded guilty to six of the eight charges and entered no-contest pleas to the RICO-conspiracy count and one gang-activity count. A no-contest plea is not an admission of the charge, although the court may impose a sentence on it. The Associated Press account of the plea distinguishes the two plea types.

Judge Paige Reese Whitaker imposed a 40-year sentence. She commuted the initial five years to time already served, and the sentence included 15 years of probation; Williams was released. The available reporting supports specific courtroom developments, not a complete witness-by-witness account or a reliable ranking of which testimony mattered most.

Ty Dennis
On October 17, 2024, Judge Whitaker struck former Atlanta police detective Ty Dennis’s testimony and ruled that he could no longer serve as a witness after he commented about a defendant’s release from jail, according to the AJC trial timeline.
Antonio Sledge
The same timeline reports that former co-defendant Antonio Sledge was sentenced to five years on October 18, 2024, after the judge determined he had been dishonest during testimony. That reported judicial finding should not be treated as proof of everything Sledge said or as a substitute for the jury’s assessment of any particular charge.

Was anyone convicted of murder in the YSL case?
No. The Associated Press reported on June 4, 2025, that the remaining murder charge was dropped after a defendant pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, leaving the long-running prosecution without a murder conviction. That outcome does not mean every defendant was acquitted of every count: the case involved individual pleas and separate outcomes on different charges. See the AP report on the dropped charge.
Does that mean every connected case is over?
Not necessarily. The cited reporting establishes the major outcome above, but it does not establish the current docket status of every severed case or every person named in the indictment as of October 3, 2026. A claim that all related proceedings are closed would require checking current Fulton County court records.
