Why the show uses two performers for these characters
The series moves between the survivors’ teenage experiences and their adult lives, so a number of characters have separate performers for each timeline. The Television Academy reports that the showrunners generally chose the actor playing an adult character first. That production note offers context for the casting, but the official cast listings remain the clearest reference for who plays whom.
