For a local setup, compare the source type, production controls, computer and network dependence, and recovery needs—not just the encoder’s subscription price. There is no verified India electricity or broadband figure here to calculate a reliable monthly local-streaming total.
Use OBS Studio for a free local encoder
Prepare the source and YouTube stream
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and open its encoder setup. Copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube’s encoder workflow. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, share it, or include it in a recording.
- Install OBS from the official OBS Project site. Add the source you need—such as a camera, display capture, or media source—and confirm that the audio and picture are correct before going live.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube or a custom service as appropriate, and enter the YouTube server URL and stream key. Use RTMPS if your encoder setup supports it; YouTube recommends RTMPS as the secure extension of RTMP.
- Open Settings > Video and select an output resolution and frame rate your source and upload connection can sustain. In Settings > Output, set a bitrate appropriate to the resolution, frame rate, and codec, then verify the encoder’s keyframe interval and other settings against YouTube’s current encoder recommendations.
- Run a speed test and test the stream privately or unlisted before a public 24/7 run. YouTube’s H.264 recommendations include 5 Mbps for 1080p30 and 6 Mbps for 720p60. These are encoder recommendations, not proof that an internet plan can sustain the upload continuously; allow headroom and judge the connection by a sustained test.
- Start streaming in OBS, then check YouTube’s live control room for incoming video, audio, and stream health. Leave the computer awake and connected, and have a way to notice and address power, internet, or encoder failures.
YouTube also lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 among supported encoder video codecs. The appropriate bitrate depends on codec, resolution, and frame rate, so use YouTube’s current table rather than treating one bitrate as universal. OBS is free software, but a 24/7 local stream still consumes electricity and upload capacity; actual Indian costs depend on your equipment and provider.

What XSplit Broadcaster offers
XSplit Broadcaster remains an option if you need its Windows production workflow. Its current product page lists Windows 10 64-bit, 8 GB RAM, a second-generation Core i5 or equivalent, and DirectX 10.1-capable GeForce/Radeon-class graphics as minimum requirements. A UPS can help bridge brief power interruptions for a local streaming PC, but it cannot fix an ISP outage or encoder failure. The right capacity and runtime depend on the computer and monitor; no suitable model or runtime is established here. For either local encoder, use a sustained upload test rather than relying solely on the advertised plan speed.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A 24/7 operator should therefore not promise a complete VOD archive. YouTube’s DVR feature can also be limited or unavailable, so viewers may not be able to rewind the full broadcast. If a complete recording matters, arrange a separate local recording or divide programming into shorter streams, while considering the operational demands of restarts.

Troubleshooting a local 24/7 stream
- YouTube shows no incoming video: check that the encoder has the correct server URL and current stream key, that streaming is enabled for the channel, and that the encoder is actually sending. If you exposed the key, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Connection is unstable or frames drop: lower resolution, frame rate, or bitrate; use a wired connection where practical; stop competing uploads; and test the sustained upload. YouTube’s bitrate values are targets for encoding, not a substitute for a stable connection.
- Stream disconnects after a power or network interruption: restore the computer and connection, then confirm the encoder has reconnected and YouTube is receiving video. A UPS only covers a limited power interruption and cannot provide internet service.
- Audio is missing or mismatched: check the selected source and audio meters in the encoder, then verify audio in the YouTube preview before returning to a public stream.
- Viewers cannot rewind or find a full archive: this can be expected for a stream exceeding 12 hours; YouTube does not guarantee capture of longer streams and DVR may be limited.
