Who is Scotty 2 Hotty?
Scotty 2 Hotty is the ring name most closely associated with Scott Garland’s WWE career. He began appearing on WWE television as a teenager under the name Scott Taylor. Garland and Brian Christopher first teamed as Too Much before adopting the hip-hop-inspired Too Cool identity in 1999. WWE’s retrospective recounts the group’s rise and Garland’s career.
How Too Cool and The Worm became famous
Too Cool’s dance-heavy act later included Rikishi, who joined Garland and Christopher in the ring. Garland has said that The Worm grew out of his childhood interest in breakdancing: he first tried the move in matches, and it became a signature that invited fans to join in. In an October 2026 interview, he recalled starting to breakdance in fourth grade, when the style was popular. Garland discussed the move’s origins with Chris Van Vliet.
What did Scotty 2 Hotty accomplish in WWE?
Too Cool won the World Tag Team Titles in 2000. Garland also held WWE’s Light Heavyweight Title after defeating Dean Malenko. A serious neck injury took him out of action in 2001 for fusion surgery; he returned in late 2003 and later competed in the Cruiserweight Division. WWE announced his release in 2007. WWE’s release announcement confirms his departure.

What does Scotty 2 Hotty do now?
The latest available update is an interview published October 6, 2026: Garland continues to wrestle and works with AEW as a coach and backstage producer. He said he still feels capable of wrestling at a respectable level. This is a snapshot of his role as described on the interview’s publication date, not a guarantee about future bookings or employment. Is Scotty 2 Hotty wrestling with his son?
In the October 2026 interview, Garland discussed sharing the ring with his son, Keegan. He said he did not push his son toward wrestling; Keegan chose to pursue it. The interview describes them wrestling together but does not provide a complete schedule of their appearances.

Garland has reflected on the difference between his public persona and himself: “I always love Scotty 2 Hotty, but I’m Scott Garland, and I always try to remember that.” In the same interview, he explained his continued commitment to wrestling by saying, “It’s never been about the money for me.” Those comments frame his current work as a continuation of his passion, rather than a return to his former WWE job.
