Before Survivor Series: WarGames took place on November 30, 2024, the clearest prediction split was over the men’s WarGames match: CBS Sports writers Shakiel Mahjouri and Brent Brookhouse chose opposite teams. They agreed on the other four outcomes, including Rhea Ripley’s team, Gunther, Sheamus, and LA Knight. Those were pre-event opinions—not results—and WWE’s official recap, included separately below, records several surprises.
What was on the announced Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 card?
USA Network’s November 15, 2024 preview listed two WarGames matches and three championship bouts. The women’s lineup below is the announced card; WWE’s later results recap records a different winning-team lineup, which is noted in the retrospective section.
| Match | Announced participants |
|---|---|
| Men’s WarGames | Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and CM Punk vs. Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Bronson Reed |
| Women’s WarGames | Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, Naomi, and IYO SKY vs. Liv Morgan, Nia Jax, Raquel Rodriguez, Tiffany Stratton, and Candice LeRae |
| World Heavyweight Championship | Gunther (champion) vs. Damian Priest |
| Intercontinental Championship | Bron Breakker (champion) vs. Sheamus vs. Ludwig Kaiser |
| United States Championship | LA Knight (champion) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura |
The card is drawn from USA Network’s announced lineup. WWE’s official men’s WarGames preview also described the faction story and match format.
How does a WarGames match work?
WWE’s preview describes two rings surrounded by a steel cage. One wrestler from each team starts; after five minutes another competitor enters, followed by another every three minutes, with the teams alternating. The match officially begins after all participants have entered. There are no disqualifications, weapons are allowed, and victory comes by pinfall or submission. The staggered entry can leave one side temporarily outnumbered, making the timing of reinforcements part of the match’s strategic and dramatic shape.

Men’s WarGames: Reigns’ team or Sikoa’s group?
This was the least certain pick in the two contemporaneous CBS Sports predictions. The match framed the Original Bloodline—Reigns, the Usos, and Zayn—against the group led by Sikoa. WWE’s preview described Zayn realigning with Reigns and the Usos, Reed joining Sikoa’s group, and Paul Heyman announcing Punk as the Original Bloodline’s fifth member. The story offered competing angles: a team reinforced by a major late addition versus a faction whose cohesion and ongoing conflict could carry the night.
- Shakiel Mahjouri picked Sikoa’s team. His case emphasized the group’s cohesion and the ongoing story.
- Brent Brookhouse picked Reigns’ team. He pointed to the prior Crown Jewel result and the possibility of sending the crowd home happy.
The disagreement was a useful signal that the outcome was genuinely debatable, not a consensus forecast. The factions, the uneasy alliances, and the late additions gave either result a plausible story route.

Women’s WarGames: Ripley’s team was the shared pick
Both Brookhouse and Mahjouri selected Ripley’s team to win. The announced opponents were led by Morgan and Jax, with Rodriguez, Stratton, and LeRae. The prediction was a shared storyline judgment from these two writers, not evidence of a broader expert consensus. Their choice favored Ripley’s side in a match built around the rival groupings; the pre-event picks did not establish a certain outcome.
World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther to retain
Both CBS Sports writers picked champion Gunther over Damian Priest. Their shared selection leaned toward continuity for the champion rather than a title change that would restart Priest’s pursuit. It was a forecast based on the title matchup and story direction, not a guarantee that the reign would continue.

Intercontinental Championship: a Sheamus story payoff?
Brookhouse and Mahjouri both picked Sheamus to defeat champion Bron Breakker and Ludwig Kaiser. Brookhouse explicitly framed his choice as preferring the possible story payoff to what he considered the most likely outcome. Sheamus was pursuing the major title he had not yet won, giving a victory an emotional hook; retaining the championship, meanwhile, would preserve Breakker’s reign. This was the clearest example on the card of a prediction driven partly by the appeal of a potential payoff.
United States Championship: LA Knight to retain
Both writers selected champion LA Knight to beat Shinsuke Nakamura. In their pre-event forecasts, that meant keeping the title with Knight rather than beginning a new Nakamura title run. The pick was shared by the two CBS Sports contributors, not a claim that the result was certain.

Survivor Series: WarGames is complete. WWE’s official results report, published November 30, 2024, records these outcomes. These are results, not the earlier predictions:
- Reigns, Punk, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and Zayn defeated Sikoa’s team in the men’s WarGames match. Brookhouse’s pick was correct; Mahjouri’s was not.
- Ripley, Belair, Naomi, Bayley, and IYO SKY defeated Morgan, Jax, Rodriguez, Stratton, and LeRae. The recap names Bayley among the winning team, while USA Network’s pre-event card listed Jade Cargill; the announced lineup and recorded result should not be silently merged.
- Nakamura defeated Knight to win the United States Championship.
- Breakker defeated Sheamus and Kaiser to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
- Gunther defeated Priest to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
Accordingly, the shared pre-event picks for Ripley’s team and Gunther were borne out, while the two championship predictions that favored Sheamus and Knight were not.
