The first Royal Rumble outside North America
Royal Rumble 2026 was the first edition of WWE’s Royal Rumble staged outside North America. Holding the event in Riyadh gave the 39th annual installment a clear historical distinction before the matches even began.
Roman Reigns returned to the winners’ column
Reigns’ win was his second Royal Rumble victory and his first since 2015. Entering at No. 26, he survived to eliminate Gunther last and secure another WrestleMania title opportunity.
Liv Morgan finally won the women’s match
Morgan’s result was notable because it followed two previous runner-up finishes. Her No. 14 entry produced a first Women’s Royal Rumble win, with returning Tiffany Stratton as the final elimination.
AJ Styles’ in-ring career ended
The Gunther-Styles match carried a career-threatening stipulation, and WWE’s results account treated the outcome as the end of Styles’ in-ring career. Gunther’s submission victory and Styles passing out in the Sleeper Hold made the segment one of the card’s most consequential outcomes.
