Western Australia’s Consumer Protection warned fans on 7 October 2025 to watch for ticket scalpers ahead of WWE shows at Perth’s RAC Arena on 10, 11 and 13 October. It advised buying through Ticketek, the authorized seller, or Ticketek Marketplace, the venue’s authorized resale platform. Those October dates have passed; WWE’s separately announced December 2026 events are a different run.
What was the warning about?
With the October 2025 shows described as nearing sell-out, Consumer Protection said fans could face inflated resale prices or invalid tickets. Commissioner for Consumer Protection Trish Blake said, “WWE is huge and so is the risk of ticket scalping,” the agency’s 7 October 2025 release reported.
The release warned that tickets bought through social media, online marketplaces or unauthorized resale sites could be duplicates or cancelled and rejected at the door. RAC Arena likewise says Ticketek is its only legitimate ticket seller, that it can guarantee tickets only when purchased directly through Ticketek, and that Ticketek Marketplace is its only authorized resale platform for arena events. Buyers using other sources may be denied entry, according to the venue’s ticket guidance.
Where could fans buy tickets safely?
- Direct purchase: Use Ticketek, which Consumer Protection named as the authorized seller and RAC Arena identifies as its only legitimate ticket seller.
- Resale: Use Ticketek Marketplace, the resale platform recommended in the warning and identified by RAC Arena as its only authorized resale channel.
- Other sources: Treat listings on social media, general online marketplaces and unauthorized resale sites as a risk. The seller’s possession of a ticket or a convincing-looking listing does not guarantee the ticket will be valid at entry.
What price limit and penalties did the release cite?
The 2025 warning described Western Australia’s resale limit as 10% above face value. It said Consumer Protection could issue a $2,000 infringement notice for ticket-scalping offences, and that courts could impose penalties of up to $20,000 for individuals and $100,000 for people using bots to bulk-buy tickets. These are amounts cited in that dated release, not a fresh review of current legislation.

For context, a separate Government of Western Australia account published in 2023 and updated in 2024 reported markups of up to 430% of the original ticket price in cases related to UFC 284. That figure concerns a different event and enforcement context, not the WWE shows. The government account provides that background.
What if you already bought a questionable ticket?
- Check the seller or platform’s terms. Look for its stated buyer-protection policy or guarantee; coverage depends on the platform’s terms.
- Ask your bank about a chargeback. The 2025 release specifically suggested this option to people who paid by credit card. A chargeback is handled by the bank and is not a guarantee of reimbursement.
- Keep evidence and report suspected breaches. Save screenshots of the advertisement, its link and identifying details such as listing or seller numbers, then include them when reporting the matter to Consumer Protection.
Are these the same as the December 2026 WWE Perth shows?
No. WWE announced a separate RAC Arena sequence for December 2026: SmackDown on 11 December, Wrestlepalooza: Perth on 12 December and Raw on 14 December. WWE said individual tickets went on sale through Ticketek on 30 September 2026. These dates are distinct from the October 2025 shows covered by the scalping warning. WWE’s announcement lists the later events.
