Night One of the 2024 WWE Draft took place on Friday Night SmackDown on April 26. SmackDown and Raw made 16 televised selections across four rounds, with SmackDown picking first. Roman Reigns had appeared in WWE’s announced eligibility pool, but Paul Heyman said on the broadcast that Reigns had withdrawn because he would not return in the immediate future.
Night One’s complete televised draft picks
WWE’s announced format gave each brand two picks per round. The table lists the 16 selections made during the televised draft.
| Round | SmackDown | Raw |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bianca Belair; Carmelo Hayes | Jey Uso; Seth “Freakin” Rollins |
| 2 | Randy Orton; Nia Jax | Bron Breakker; Liv Morgan |
| 3 | LA Knight; The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Paul Heyman) | Ricochet; Sheamus |
| 4 | AJ Styles; Andrade | Alpha Academy (Chad Gable, Otis, Akira Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri); Kiana James |
WWE also announced supplemental picks on social media. These were separate from the four televised rounds:

Why Roman Reigns withdrew from the draft
WWE initially included Reigns in its announced Friday draft pool as part of The Bloodline. During SmackDown, Paul Heyman told Kayla Braxton that Reigns had withdrawn from eligibility because he would not be returning in the immediate future and did not want to take the first draft pick. Jake Barnett’s same-night recap reports the exchange; the explanation is attributed to Heyman on the broadcast, rather than to a separate WWE written statement.
How the 2024 Draft worked
WWE’s published rules set Night One on SmackDown for four rounds and 16 televised picks. Night Two, on Raw, was planned for six rounds and 24 picks, with Raw receiving the first selection that night. WWE said champions on each brand were protected, with an exception for Women’s Tag Team Champions Asuka and Kairi Sane: they remained eligible and would be assigned to a brand if they lost the titles. NXT Superstars were also eligible. The rosters were scheduled to take effect Monday, May 6, after Backlash France. WWE detailed the format and eligibility in its 2024 WWE Draft rules.
