Bobby Lashley and MVP are not rumored newcomers to AEW: the company already lists both as roster talent associated with The Hurt Syndicate. The separate claim that AEW is making financial cutbacks is unconfirmed by the evidence available. A report about WWE talent pay reductions concerns WWE, not AEW.
Are Bobby Lashley and MVP joining AEW?
No. AEW’s official roster lists MVP and Bobby Lashley as current talent and associates them with The Hurt Syndicate. That makes “to AEW?” a stale premise, not an open transfer question.
AEW’s official Lashley profile says MVP guides the group and records that Lashley won AEW’s world tag team titles with Shelton Benjamin. These are established roster and career details; they do not predict future matches or storylines.
What is known about MVP’s AEW contract?
In a report published August 30, 2026, Fightful said MVP stated on Marking Out with MVP & Dwayne Swayze that his current contract takes him through age 57. That is a report of his remarks, not a publicly available contract document. Fightful also said MVP had announced a long-term AEW extension in late 2025. Read Fightful’s report.

MVP described possible work as a manager, mouthpiece, consultant or contributor. Those comments point to roles beyond wrestling in the ring; they are not an announcement that he is leaving AEW. In the same interview, he said he was not officially retired, expected that retirement was coming, and was thinking he would have a final match “probably next year.” That was his expectation at the time, not a confirmed retirement date.
Fightful also reported that MVP missed AEW All In on August 30 because of a visa issue. A reported absence from one event does not establish a departure. AEW’s official results index provides a recent results chronology, but results alone cannot confirm future booking or contract developments.

Is AEW cutting costs?
The financial-cutback claim is not confirmed here. A May 18, 2026 report by Wrestling Notícias said Dave Meltzer rejected an alleged AEW cost-cutting directive, describing it as “complete bullshit.” That is secondary reporting of a journalist’s remarks—not an AEW announcement, financial filing or primary evidence about company spending. The report also does not tie any alleged cuts to Lashley or MVP. Read the Wrestling Notícias report.

A separate F4W/WON report dated May 8, 2026 concerned reported pay reductions for WWE talent. It is about WWE, not AEW, and does not show that AEW has a cost-cutting program or that Lashley’s or MVP’s compensation or status has changed. Read the F4W/WON report.
