WWE 2K25 launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23, 2025. Its Universe mode brought back Promos, with multiple promo types and outcomes, new cutscenes and branching choices. The pre-release question of whether the game might come to Switch 2 is no longer open.
When did WWE 2K25 release on Nintendo Switch 2?
2K announced the July 23, 2025 release date and later confirmed the launch. In its launch announcement, 2K said: “Today, 2K and Visual Concepts launched WWE 2K25 for Nintendo Switch™ 2, alongside the Fearless Pack, the third of five DLC character packs.” 2K’s launch announcement also lists a roster of over 300 playable characters.

Does WWE 2K25 have Promos?
Yes. Universe mode received what 2K called “the long-awaited return of Promos.” The official announcement describes multiple promo types and outcomes, new cutscenes and branching choices. That establishes the feature’s return, but not the exact last WWE 2K installment that included Promos or how many years they were absent. 2K’s Universe mode announcement has the feature details.
What is included in the Switch 2 version?
2K said the Switch 2 release supports the full set of WWE 2K25 modes and match types, including offline modes on the go and online modes when connected to the internet. At launch, the company highlighted intergender wrestling, the return of Chain Wrestling, Bloodline Rules and Underground matches, plus online MyGM multiplayer for up to four players. WWE 2K support also identifies The Island as available only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, so it should not be counted among the Switch 2 features. What do you need for online features?
Nintendo’s listing for the digital Farewell Tour Edition says online features require an internet connection, a Nintendo Account and a Nintendo Switch Online membership. WWE 2K26 is the subsequent installment, not an update to WWE 2K25. 2K’s announcement says the Switch 2 version of 2K26 supports Image Uploader and cross-platform Community Creations; those features should not be attributed to 2K25. 2K’s WWE 2K26 announcement covers that later release.
