Beth Phoenix’s SummerSlam 2008 team also won an intergender tag match, but Phoenix pinned Mickie James—not Santino Marella. These distinctions matter: a team victory, a singles win, and a post-match brawl are different things.
Which women wrestlers beat men in WWE matches?
In WWE’s documented results, Chyna’s No Mercy 1999 contest with Jeff Jarrett is a verified example of a woman facing a man in a singles match. Beth Phoenix was part of the winning team in an intergender tag match at SummerSlam 2008. The official account says she scored the fall on Mickie James, her female opponent, so it should not be described as Phoenix pinning a man.
This is a selection of examples supported by the cited WWE records, not a complete all-time list. The records cited here do not establish a reliable total of women’s wins over men.
Did Chyna beat Jeff Jarrett?
WWE’s No Mercy 1999 event page identifies Chyna’s match against Jeff Jarrett as a Good Housekeeping Match, with Jarrett’s Intercontinental Championship at stake. That makes it a one-on-one intergender contest with a championship context, rather than a tag-team result.

The available event-page result text is truncated before the complete individual result. Keep the result tied to the event’s documented match record rather than adding an unsupported account of how it ended.
Did Beth Phoenix pin Santino Marella at SummerSlam 2008?
No. Phoenix’s team won the intergender tag match, but WWE’s SummerSlam 2008 account says Phoenix pinned Mickie James. The stipulation awarded the titles to the team that scored the pin or submission; James had hit Marella with a DDT before Phoenix secured the fall on James.

So Phoenix helped win a match involving male wrestlers, but she did not pin Marella. The individual who takes the fall and the team that earns the victory are not interchangeable when describing a tag-match result.

How to read intergender match results accurately
- Check the format: A singles match records one-on-one opposition; a mixed-tag match records a team result. Identify both before saying who beat whom.
- Name the person who scored the fall: In tag matches, the winning team may include wrestlers who did not pin or submit an opponent.
- Preserve the stakes and stipulation: For Chyna and Jarrett, WWE identifies both the Good Housekeeping Match stipulation and the Intercontinental Championship stakes.
- Separate matches from angles: A post-match fight or storyline brawl does not become a match result simply because wrestlers from different divisions are involved.
