No—not in the announced cast for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Tom Blyth said he would sit out the film after Ralph Fiennes was cast as Coriolanus Snow. Blyth had previously expressed interest in playing an older Snow in a possible future story, but that was not a casting announcement. The film is scheduled to open in North American theaters on November 20, 2026.
What did Tom Blyth say about returning as Snow?
Blyth, who played the young Coriolanus Snow in The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, discussed the possibility of returning as an older version of the character in remarks reported on September 14, 2025. He recalled offering to undergo lengthy makeup each day to age into the part: “There was a time where I literally texted [director] Francis Lawrence and [producer] Nina Jacobson and said, ‘Look, I’m happy to go through six hours of prosthetics every morning to make me look like a 55-year-old, 60-year-old man.’” Just Jared reported the remarks via Screen Rant.
He also left open the possibility of more Snow stories if Suzanne Collins wrote another book, saying, “There’s a good chance that Suzanne [Collins] might choose to write another book that features Snow, and his story, and Tigris and everything. There’s a lot to be explored there.” That was speculation about a possible future story, not confirmation that Collins would write one or that Blyth would be cast in it.
Why is Blyth sitting out Sunrise on the Reaping?
Sunrise on the Reaping takes place years after the events of The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, with an older Snow. After learning that Ralph Fiennes would take over the role, Blyth said, “I’ll sit this one out.” He described Fiennes as the right choice and said he was happy to watch “a master take over the role,” while also expressing excitement about seeing Haymitch’s story. These comments, too, come from the September 2025 report rather than a direct primary interview page.
