Co-creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford have said they would welcome continuing the story, and a later report cited an informal “in development” listing—but neither amounts to an official renewal.
Is Skeleton Crew season 2 confirmed?
No. The latest cited reporting, published by GamesRadar+ on May 27, 2026, does not establish an official renewal or cancellation. It describes a Production Weekly listing as “in development,” while cautioning that the listing does not mean filming is about to begin or guarantee that a season will be made. Treat the show’s status as unconfirmed, not renewed.
What the creators have said about making more
Jon Watts and Christopher Ford’s earlier comments
In an interview reported by TechRadar on January 14, 2025, co-creator Jon Watts said, “But, if people want to see more Skeleton Crew, we’d be happy to make more.” Christopher Ford said, “We’re dreaming of it [a second season],” adding, “We’ve come up with different possibilities, so never say never.” These remarks show interest and ideas, but they were not an announcement that Disney had ordered another season.
Ford’s later statement
GamesRadar+ later quoted Ford saying, “We 100% have an idea for a second season and know what we would do.” Having a plan for the story is not the same as having approval to produce it.

What does the “in development” listing mean?
GamesRadar+ reported the Production Weekly listing in May 2026 and explicitly warned that it was no guarantee of a season or a sign that filming was starting. It is an industry-listing report, not an official studio renewal statement. The report also quoted Kerry Condon, who played Fara, as saying, “I mean, I heard maybe possibly, but I don’t know.” Her tentative, second-hand remark does not confirm an order either.
Why did the 2025 outlook look bleak?
TechRadar’s January 2025 assessment that the chances “don’t look great” rested in part on one early U.S. audience measure: Skeleton Crew did not appear in Nielsen’s U.S. streaming Top 10 for December 9–15, 2024. That result is a narrow snapshot, not a complete measure of the show’s worldwide audience or performance across later episodes. The cited passage gives no viewing-minute total, so none should be inferred from the ranking.

The early Nielsen result and the later Production Weekly listing are different kinds of evidence: one concerns a U.S. premiere-period audience ranking, while the other is an informal report about development status. Neither, by itself, settles whether Disney will make a second season.

In an official StarWars.com interview, the creators described the series as set in the New Republic era and following children trying to get home after drawing the attention of pirates and other space criminals. Ford’s comments indicate that the creators have considered possible directions beyond that story, but no season-two plot, returning cast, production start, or release date is confirmed by the cited reporting.
