In March 2025, Will Smith and Tatyana Ali recreated a dance from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in a social video set to Doechii’s “Anxiety,” and Doechii joined the dance. The video deliberately echoes a 1990s sitcom scene that fans had already started recreating, and the song gave that old moment a second life as a trend.
What the recreation copies from the original scene
The source moment is a simple sitcom beat. Ashley Banks dances alone in her room with headphones on while Will copies her moves. The 2025 video stages that same bit again, with Smith and Ali back in the roles and Doechii added to the routine.
| Element | Original scene (1990s sitcom) | 2025 recreation |
|---|---|---|
| Setting | Ashley’s bedroom | Recreated staging that mirrors the original scene |
| Dancers | Ashley Banks, with Will copying her | Will Smith and Tatyana Ali, with Doechii joining in |
| Music in the video | Not the Doechii track; the audio is not part of the recreation’s premise | Doechii’s “Anxiety” (2025 re-recorded version) |
The gap between the two music columns is the point of the video. The original clip was never made for “Anxiety,” and the trend came from pairing a decades-old scene with a new song.
How “Anxiety” entered the trend
Doechii’s track has two versions with different release histories. According to Universal Music Canada’s March 14, 2025 announcement, the song was first recorded in her bedroom for her self-released 2019 mixtape Coven Music Sessions.

The 2019 bedroom recording
That original version was never released to digital service providers, so most listeners could not stream it. It existed as part of the mixtape’s home-recorded material.
The March 2025 re-recording
After fan demand, Doechii re-recorded the vocals and released a new version in March 2025. That is the version tied to the Fresh Prince video, and it is the one most people now hear when the trend is discussed.

The trend in numbers
Universal Music Canada also published figures in its March 14, 2025 announcement. These are label-reported, dated figures from the time of the announcement, not independently verified current totals:
- More than 200,000 creations per day, described by the label as the trend’s average when it was announced in March 2025.
- 11.2 billion views across 2.3 million creations, the label’s cumulative totals as of that announcement.
Treat these as a snapshot of the early peak. The trend’s totals may have changed since, and no later figures from the label are cited here.

How the reunion came together
In a September 2026 interview with ABC’s Good Morning America, Tatyana Ali said Smith texted her after seeing people recreate the scene and asked her to fly to Los Angeles. Doechii also became involved, and the TikTok came together in a matter of days. Ali’s account is a participant’s retrospective, given roughly eighteen months after the video went up, so it reflects her memory of the process rather than a contemporaneous record.
What was playing in the original scene
Ali’s 2026 interview also addresses a detail many viewers wonder about: whether the dancer was listening to music. She said there was no music playing in her headphones during the original scene. She recalled listening to Deee-Lite’s World Clique around the time the first episodes aired, but that was her own memory of her life at the time, not the audio on set.
For that reason, do not present the song heard in the 2025 video as what was playing during the original filming. The only thing the original scene shows is the physical routine.

Smith posted two captions that anchor the story. On the earlier post about the original scene, as reported by ABC on March 15, 2025, he wrote: “I’ve been watching y’all and every video has been better than the last!! Love that track @doechii. Yo @tatyanaali remember this?”

Watching the original show
Readers who want to revisit the scene can look for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air on streaming services, but availability depends on territory. Prime Video’s catalog listing for the series notes that viewing status varies by location, so check the listing in your own region before you rely on it.
A September 23, 2026 deal report, from Slickdeals, said Amazon had listed The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: The Complete Series on DVD. That report is not a live inventory check. Confirm the listing, price, and region compatibility on the retailer’s page before buying.
