No official Rainbow Friends movie announcement was established in the sources reviewed as of October 8, 2026. A Netflix-branded trailer circulating online is explicitly a fan-made concept, not confirmation of a film. No release date, cast, studio, or production status is confirmed in the reviewed evidence.
Is the Rainbow Friends Netflix trailer real?
Not as an official trailer. The YouTube upload titled “Rainbow Friends | OFFICIAL TRAILER | Netflix Concept” includes a disclaimer from its creator, Marshall Boyd: “Just like in the title AND end of the video, this is a concept trailer, meaning it is for entertainment purposes only.” Its description says it is fan-made and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Netflix or Roblox Corporation; it also says no official film or partnership is implied.
The words “official trailer” in the title can be misleading if read without “Netflix Concept” and the disclaimer. The creator’s description identifies the video as a fan concept, not an announcement.
Is Netflix’s Rainbow connected to the game?
No connection is stated in Netflix’s 2022 announcement of Rainbow. The film is directed by Paco León and described as a free adaptation inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Its story follows a teenager named Dora on a journey to find her mother. The shared word “Rainbow” does not establish a connection to Rainbow Friends.

What is confirmed about Rainbow Friends?
Roblox’s official experience listing identifies Rainbow Friends as an experience by Roy & Charcle and gives its premise: “It was supposed to be a normal field trip… But the Rainbow Friends want to play.” The listing confirms the game’s identity and premise; it does not announce a film.

There is licensed merchandise, but that is separate from a movie. In a May 13, 2025 announcement, JAKKS Pacific described licensed Rainbow Friends toys and plush, along with a multi-year agreement between its subsidiary Disguise and PhatMojo for costumes in North America and Europe. The announcement does not describe a movie or movie tie-in.

In the sources reviewed, there is no confirmation of Rainbow Friends film production, a distributor, cast, release date, or format. That means a movie has not been verified as officially announced; it does not establish whether one might be made in the future.
