Colin Farrell is open to returning as Oz Cobb in another season of The Penguin, but he has not confirmed that he will. In an interview with PEOPLE published June 21, 2026, Farrell said there was more of Oz Cobb’s story that could be explored, but questioned whether another season could meet the standard set by the first. “Should we? Can we get there? Could we justify a second or a third season when the first season was as strong as it was?” he said.

Farrell said the creative team was focused on the next Batman film and did not have time to develop another Penguin season at that point. Have talks about The Penguin Season 2 already begun?
There is earlier reporting about exploratory conversations, but it does not amount to a renewal. On January 5, 2025, TVLine reported that executive producer Dylan Clark had described “quiet conversations” about a possible second season, conditional on finding a worthwhile idea. The report also said Matt Reeves was talking with showrunner Lauren LeFranc about another season.
Those comments were reported in January 2025; Farrell’s later remarks to PEOPLE were published in June 2026. Both accounts describe the possibility of continuing the story, but neither confirms that HBO renewed the series or that production has begun.

Is The Penguin renewed, and when would Season 2 come out?
The sources cited here do not establish an official season-two renewal, production date, or release date. Farrell’s comments concern his willingness to consider returning and the team’s priorities; the earlier report concerns exploratory conversations. Neither is an announcement of a commissioned season.
