The show explains Xavier’s absence in its premiere: his father withdrew him from Nevermore after Xavier was falsely suspected of being the season 1 killer. That is the fictional explanation. No official real-world reason for Hynes White’s departure was announced in the reporting reviewed here, so the allegations that circulated about the actor should not be treated as a confirmed cause.
Why is Xavier not in Wednesday season 2?
Hynes White’s absence was confirmed before season 2 premiered. On May 7, 2024, TVLine reported that he was not included in Netflix’s season 2 cast announcement. In May, Hynes White also said he would not appear, writing, “I had so much fun working on this show. I can’t wait to watch season 2 🙂 Much love,” as TV Insider reported.
Those reports establish that he did not return, but they do not establish why the production made that decision. The coverage reviewed here reported no official explanation from Netflix. It is therefore not accurate to say that the allegations against Hynes White caused his exit as a confirmed fact.
What happened to Xavier in the story?
His father takes him out of Nevermore
In season 2, episode 1, Principal Larissa Weems tells Wednesday that Vincent Thorpe withdrew Xavier from Nevermore. Xavier had been falsely accused of being the killer in season 1. Vincent also removes his endowment and gives up his role as chair of the school’s gala fundraising committee, according to TV Insider’s episode account.

Xavier is at another school
Xavier is said to be attending Reichenbach Academy in Switzerland. He remains connected to Wednesday’s story indirectly: he sends her a message and a painting, as ComicBook.com reported. He has not been written as dead or simply erased from the story; the series places him elsewhere and refers to him through those items.
Did Percy Hynes White leave because of the allegations?
That has not been confirmed. Social media allegations about Hynes White circulated in 2023. In a statement reproduced by TVLine, he denied them, saying, “The rumors are false,” and describing the online claims as “a campaign of misinformation.” Those are his attributed remarks, not an independent finding about the allegations.

Reports noted the casting change amid the controversy, but timing does not prove a cause. Without an official explanation linking the allegations to the decision, the responsible answer is that the production reason remains publicly unstated.

In TVLine’s report of an interview, co-showrunner Alfred Gough said, “We have seen the last of him.” That statement points to Xavier’s departure from the series, while the show’s Switzerland reference and message keep the character present in season 2’s story. Netflix’s season 2 cast guide is also available for the show’s announced cast context.
