In September 2024, Las Vegas rock stations KOMP 92.3 and X 107.5 announced they were removing Green Day music after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong insulted the city during a concert. The actions were made by two stations—not a citywide radio authority—and the available reports do not establish how long either policy lasted or whether it remains in effect today.
What happened
On September 26, 2024, FOX5 Las Vegas reported that KOMP 92.3 and X 107.5 had announced playlist actions following Armstrong’s remarks about Las Vegas and the Oakland Athletics’ planned relocation. KOMP said it had pulled Green Day from its playlist; X 107.5 said it was banning the band’s music, effective immediately. FOX5 Las Vegas

These were station-level decisions, not a formal government restriction or a ban across all Las Vegas radio. The reports establish what the stations announced at the time, but do not establish the policies’ duration or current status.
What Armstrong said, and where
Armstrong made the remarks on September 20, 2024, during a Green Day performance at Oracle Park in San Francisco. The Guardian reported that he criticized Athletics owner John Fisher over the planned relocation of the Oakland team to Las Vegas, then insulted the city. The Guardian

As reported by The Guardian, Armstrong said: “We don’t take no shit from people like John fucking Fisher who sold out the Oakland A’s to Las fucking Vegas,” followed by, “I hate Las Vegas. It’s the worst shithole in America.” These were reported as on-stage comments at the concert, not as remarks made in response to the stations.
How the two stations described their decisions
| Station | Reported action and wording |
|---|---|
| KOMP 92.3 | The station said: “KOMP 92.3 has pulled any and all Green Day from our playlist. It’s not us, Billie…it’s you. #vegas4ever.” |
| X 107.5 | The station announced: “Sin City heard him loud and clear—and X107.5 is not having it. In response to Armstrong’s inflammatory comments, the station is banning all Green Day music, effective immediately.” Its midday host also discussed the decision on air. |

Timeline and what remains unconfirmed
- September 20, 2024: Armstrong made the remarks during Green Day’s concert at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
- September 25–26, 2024: X 107.5’s announcement was reported as made on air; FOX5 reported both stations’ actions on September 26.
- October 1, 2024: The Guardian and Digital Music News published follow-up coverage.
The Guardian described the Athletics as expected to play in Sacramento for three years before moving to a Las Vegas Strip stadium in 2028. That was the plan reported in 2024, not confirmation of a present-day schedule. The Guardian
The cited coverage does not verify whether either station later resumed playing Green Day, how long the actions lasted, or whether they remain active. It also contains no independently verified statement from Armstrong responding to the stations.
