On January 31, 2024, he explained on The Pat McAfee Show that the team had practice on Saturday, February 3, followed by a travel day on Sunday, February 4—the night of the Grammys.
Why couldn’t Travis Kelce attend the 2024 Grammys?
Kelce’s stated reason was the Chiefs’ schedule as they prepared for Super Bowl LVIII. The Grammys took place on February 4, 2024, while Kansas City had practice the previous day and was scheduled to travel on the day of the ceremony. The Super Bowl was set for February 11 in Las Vegas.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Kelce said, “I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for,” as quoted by ABC News on January 31, 2024. He added, “Unfortunately, I gotta get ready for this big ole Super Bowl that we got in a week.”

What was known about his attendance before the ceremony?
Kelce’s January 31 comments made the scheduling conflict clear: he wished he could be there, but the team’s practice and travel plans came first as the Chiefs prepared for the championship game. Vanity Fair and Fox News also reported before the ceremony that he would not attend.
The Associated Press covered the broader travel demands surrounding the events, including Swift’s expected itinerary of more than 19,400 miles (30,500 kilometers) in just under two weeks. That figure describes her travel, not Kelce’s reason for missing the Grammys; the explanation he gave was the Chiefs’ schedule.
