A 2024 case focused on an accounting of a music-catalog and certain image-rights transaction; a 2025 suit raised broader allegations and sought damages and Danny’s removal from his role heading the family trust. The accusations remain disputed, and the sources available for this article do not establish a final court ruling.
What are Tony Bennett’s daughters suing their brother over?
The sisters’ legal complaints concern whether Danny Bennett properly handled and accounted for Tony Bennett’s financial affairs and property. The first filing sought records and an accounting, including information about a sale of the singer’s music catalog and certain image rights to brand-development firm Iconoclast. A later suit, reported in April 2025, broadened the dispute to include alleged conflicted transactions, commissions, loans or gifts, and the handling of personal belongings.
Those descriptions are allegations in court filings and reporting, not findings that Danny Bennett committed misconduct. His side has denied wrongdoing and said he followed his father’s wishes.
How the two suits differ
| Case | Issues described in reporting | Relief sought | Status established by the sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| First filing, June 2024 | Accounting for proceeds and records related to the catalog and certain image-rights sale, as well as other transactions involving Tony Bennett, the family trust, and Benedetto Arts LLC. | Equitable relief, a full accounting and inventory, and records such as receipts, disbursements, expenditures, and tax returns. | Allegations and requests for information; no finding of misconduct established. Associated Press, 2024. |
| Second suit, filed in 2025 and reported April 1–2 | Broader claims involving alleged fiduciary misconduct, conflicted transactions, commissions, loans or gifts, and personal property. | Damages and Danny Bennett’s removal from his role heading the family trust. | Allegations and a denial by Danny Bennett’s spokesperson; no final ruling or disposition established. Associated Press, 2025. |
What the 2024 filing says about the catalog transaction
Antonia and Johanna Bennett alleged that they had not received an adequate account of proceeds from the sale to Iconoclast of Tony Bennett’s music catalog and certain image rights. They also challenged other transactions involving the singer, the family trust, and Benedetto Arts LLC, alleging that Danny Bennett and his company received personal benefits from some dealings, including memorabilia sales.

The sisters requested a fuller account and supporting records. Their filing said the information and documents provided to their lawyers were piecemeal and insufficient. The reporting does not provide a complete transaction accounting or establish the full price or precise scope of rights transferred, so neither should be inferred.
For context, the Associated Press reported in 2024 that Bennett released more than 70 albums and won 19 competitive Grammy Awards. That career background does not establish what was included in the Iconoclast transaction. Associated Press, 2024.

What the 2025 suit added
The later suit alleged that Danny Bennett exercised control over his father’s financial affairs through multiple roles and benefited from transactions that the sisters viewed as conflicted. The complaint reportedly described commissions and loans or gifts to Danny and his children. These are claims made by the sisters, not established findings.
The suit also said each sister received a distribution of $245,000 and alleged that this was far less than what they believed they were entitled to. The amount and their characterization of it are reported from the complaint; they do not establish the final value of the estate or what either sister was legally due. Associated Press, 2025.

The Independent reported that the sisters’ filing alleged Tony Bennett earned over $100 million from live performances during the last 15 years of his career and that his gross estate was purportedly valued below $7 million. Both figures are claims attributed to the filing, not independently verified or audited totals. The Independent, 2024.
Why personal belongings are part of the dispute
The 2025 reporting also describes allegations about access to and disposition of family property. The sisters said Antonia’s piano was in poor condition when she saw it and that the family did not receive timely access to some belongings. They further alleged that clothing was donated and other items were sold, given away, or discarded without notice. These remain allegations in the suit. The Independent, 2025.

How Danny Bennett responded
In response to the 2025 suit, a spokesperson for Danny Bennett called it “another baseless attempt to distort the public and the court’s understanding of Tony Bennett’s clearly stated wishes,” according to the Associated Press. The statement represents his side’s position, not a court conclusion. Associated Press, 2025.
The Independent also recounted an earlier court response in which Danny Bennett said his father trusted him to manage his career and money and to serve as trustee. That defense directly conflicts with the sisters’ allegations about how he used his authority. The Independent, 2025.
